...How could he get any better?
Fiore reveals Roma rejection Sunday 13 August, 2006

Stefano Fiore has revealed his proposed summer move to Roma was blocked because of his past at rivals Lazio.
“Roma called me and I also spoke with Coach Luciano Spalletti, but in the end nothing came of it,” the midfielder told newspaper ‘Il Romanista’.
“The fact that I had played for many years at Lazio was too large an obstacle for the negotiations to be concluded. Spalletti told me they had also tried to bring in Fabio Liverani, but it all fell apart for the same reason. Evidently signing an ex-Lazio man at Roma is an impossible task.”
Fiore wore the Biancocelesti jersey in Rome derbies for four years before a brief spell in La Liga with Valencia.
His loan spell at Fiorentina expired last month and the club did not opt to make the move permanent for £2m, so he has returned to Spain and still has question marks over his future.
“It is a bit of a strange situation. At the start I didn’t even want to come here. They saw me in training and confirmed I’d remain, but now they won’t let me play. I spoke to (director) Amedeo Carboni to ask for clarification. We’ll see what happens.”
Roma were at the Mestalla last night for a 2-0 friendly defeat to Valencia, but Fiore could only watch from the stands.
“I would’ve wanted to play, as I’ve been training hard for two weeks. It disappoints me that I had to sit this out,” concluded the Italian.
