    Mascherano Empty Mascherano

Post by Oleguerisntthatbad Wed Dec 27, 2006 5:26 pm

Apparently Mascherano is very close to signing for Juve for a reported €8 million. A steal at that price, I wish we would move for him.. Surely he would prefer the Camp Nou rather than Serie B..

True. But Juve will be back next year; it's a purchase for the long term.

He wont be going to the end of the season...we've already said that. The only way he will is if we buy a CM in the January window. He should be given a chance at West Ham!

    Yes he did.

But Gilberto is in terrific form and with defensive midfielders they get better with age like Makelele, so Gilberto will be with us for a few more years.

There is no need for Mascherano.

Mascherano and Cesc would form the best central midfield partnership in the world. And both have their best years ahead of them.

Barzagli is pretty much a certainty for the summer, it's 50/50 whether Masc joins now or in the summer. We are also supposed to get Lucas in Jan, who is also a holding midfielder so I don't know. Rumours about Palacio, who I'm a big fan of, I'd much prefer him to Klose and Iaquinta who are a bit old, and Huntellar who is crap

    Juve near to Mascherano deal

Reports in Italy suggest Juventus are close to signing West Ham midfielder Javier Mascherano in the next few weeks.

The Argentine signed a four-year deal with the London club during the summer, but has struggled to adapt to his new life and has been frequently linked with the demoted giants in the past few months, after allegedly asking the Hammers to let him leave.

Bianconeri officials are expected in London in the next 48 hours to finalise the details with the company who owns the player and Mascherano could arrive in Italy shortly on a £5.7m deal.

‘The Little General’, who had been urged to join the Juve in the January transfer window by Argentina boss Alfio Basile, is liked by Coach Didier Deschamps, who had already eyed him during the summer.

The 22-year-old Argentine, who impressed for his national side during the 2006 World Cup, would arrive with the added bonus of an Italian passport and is considered by the Bianconeri a key player as the Old Lady plans to strengthen the side ahead of their potential return to Serie A at the end of the season.

The former Corinthians man started his career in his homeland with River Plate, before moving to the Brazilian side in 2005, where he won the League title along with his Argentine teammate Carlos Tevez.

Mascherano is also a reported target for Inter and Fiorentina, who are both willing to offer up to £2m to convince the player to leave Upton Park

    Its bullshit.....

1)Our chairman has said both WILL be staying til the end of the season at least

2)Mascherano said he's happy and wants to do his best to break into the team..as he is enjoying his experience in England.

Its all just speculation...and thirdly he cant even join Juventus on contract terms due to already playing for two teams this season! He can only leave on a loan deal

I thought the "2 clubs in a season" rule only came into play if they were both in the same league.

Last year Kromkamp played for both Villarreal and ourselves within 6 months of eachother, for example.

I would not mind to have at United but we dont really play with players who just sit infront of defence to break up attacks , the only player who does that is OShea because he is a defender basically.

I guess you are right.. but I think he is a better player than Carrick/Parker. For us, a player that can sit in front of Puyol and Márquez breaking up attacks is essential, but he has to be able to pass the ball..

I still cringe when thinking that Poulsen was free!!!

Parker was amazing at Charlton gone downhill a bit but is now coming back , he's more box to box.

I liked Carrick at Spurs but was a little scared that he would have to be our DM , as he really is a playmaker.
But now seeing his performances for us has made me realised his importance , he doesnt have to do crunching tackles because he reads the game so well and marks beautifully , add his passing to that.He needs to sort out his shooting but still is gelling with the squad.

He is one of the reasons why we are top with 4 points clear and we have played teams with some tough midfield like Chelsea who needed a setpiece to score against us and Liverpool with Sissoko , Alonso and Gerrard and add to the fact he is partnered with Scholes and we all know how he tackles.

Mascherano in EPL < Parker and Carrick.
    Mascherano in Internationals>Parker and Carrick.

I wonder if his height is an issue for Barcelona?
Also, surely this business of him being in England to drive up his price will prevent him leaving for less than 10 million?

He might not want to be in the Bundesliga, but surely he'd be an excellent player for Munich - if they get big money for Hargreaves they could drive up the price considerably higher than Juve seem to be offering. In any case I'd be surprised if nobody else tried to sneak in on him.
