Post by Kimbo Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:48 pm

With the departure of Deadly Doug from Villa the orange site have put together a list of twatty chairman.

Our beloved Freddy Shepherd comes in at 3, slightly unfair i feel. He's obviously an arse that knows bugger all about football, BUT he has made/kept our finances very strong.

Doug Ellis and Risdale should be changed.

Ellis has done a much better job.

    No.4: Mohamed Al Fayed

    Fear Factor: 7

    Club: Fulham

    Reign: 1997-present

Worth: With his other business interests, he can afford Fulham

The Al Fayed CV: The Harrods owner certainly put his money where his mouth is when he saved ailing Fulham and financed a drive through the football leagues that may never be seen again. Desperate for promotion, Al Fayed demanded success from his managers or they were shown the door. Six men have been in the hot seat since the Harrods boss took over, although Chris Coleman is holding on to his position despite the purse strings being recently tied up.

He said what? "If a player can't deliver and he's sitting on a contract for five years and earning £30,000, £40,000 or even £100,000 per-week, send him to hell!"

It's a manageable debt from when we extended the stadium, there's a payment plan set out for it.

I'm sure they have yet to spend much.

    Out -

    Spector - 0.5
    P Neville - 2.5
    Kleberson - 2
    Van Nistelrooy - 11
Obi Mikel - 6 (so far)
Bellion - undisclosed (at a guess £1 million)

    In -

    Vidic - 7
    Evra - 5.5
    Carrick - 14 (so far)

So they have only spent £3 - 4 million so far as Park and Van Der Sar were paid for before they had full control.

It's manageable debt. We're seeking investors for the stadium, true, but we're not going to be financially-fucked even if we don't find them as far as I know. I can't remember what our exact situation is, but I know it's nothing too serious. Infact, we made profits again last year.

Utd on the otherhand, as far as I'm aware, are dependant on price-hikes etc to recoup the debt? Or have the sponsors taken a large chunk of that £500million odd away?

No one really knows our situation other than the Glazers, thats why I take things written by the anti-Glazer Man United fans with a pinch of salt.

Last statement I heard the debt was much easier to handle than first thought.

Weren't alot of Utd fans worried about it aswell? It wasn't just opposition fans, I remember alot of Utd fans were really concerned about the debt you seemed to be taking on.

The only person who's said we're in over £20 million of debt is, surprise surprise, Steve Morgan - our third largest shareholder at the time. Someone who was desperate to buy the club. On the cheap.

Everyone else has actually denied his exaggerated claims. Infact, our wage bill has been decreeasing yearly (amongst other things) as far as I'm aware.

But thats my point alot of the biggest opposition he has had is Man United fans who didn't want to see them take over the club for many reasons, mainly because the debt he brings. So some of there stories are scaremongering, even if some are true.

the last piece of info about the glazers was they had actually increased united's debt burden but the interest they have to pay of the loans each year has decreased... I don't know the situation overly well but i think as long as united's actual valuation remains as high as it currently is then the club will have few financial problems... if fergie stays in charge for much longer however.............
