The English always reach the quarters in big tourneys so that means you have to be ranked between 5-8.....

Argentina won the Cop America....

Germany...erm.... haven't won a single game in this millemnium on a euro tourney.... At the WC they did slightly better with thanks of the great German lobby in the FIFA....

It is a counting system so Marketing is not involved....

My Fifa rankings would probably be something like this:

1). Brazil - Over the past few years, definitely been the best team
2). Italy - World Champions. Can't argue with that.
3). France - And you know it.
4). Portugal - Under Scolari they have been very good
5). Argentina

England would probably be around tenth.

But we have won all our games against Portugal for 20 years !

Euro 2000 France 2-1 Portugal
Friendly 2001 France 4-0 Portugal
WC 2006 France 1-0 Portugal

In euro 2004 they played better than us but they lost against Greece as we did.
In WC 2002 they were out in the first round as we did.
