Reducing the maximum number of teams from 4 to 3 in the C/L.
Nothing really spectacular, just distributing the money a little more fairly. Of course, this is something a little strange for EPL fans to understand. Look how EPL clubs treat the rest of English football regarding TV money.

    Non-Contact
The only contact allowed currently in football, before gaining posession of the ball, is the shoulder to shoulder charge.

    4 Linesmen

This is to have 2 linesmen as usual, and the 2 extra linesmen, one at each goal line, will be there to adjudicate if the ball had crossed the line, and to be closer placed to help in penalty decissions.

Yes, Platini is «helped» by Blatter, just as Johansson was to be a puppet for Beckenbaur.

Better to just do what rugby do though and introduce TV replays to aid decisions

I actually like that idea, even though it could mean missing out on CL football some seasons. Atleast it would make the UEFA cup a little more glamorous again.

Typical response of an armchair glory seeking football fan. Thinks that football doesn't exist outside of the top divisions, and Sky has 20 camaras at all matches.

But with which ever team from the big 4 this happens too, some of your players may want to move on. Some of your transfer targets may not want to join.

This could have a massive knock on effect.

This will never happen in the premiership. We'll end up with different rules for europe and England. Ridiculous suggestion. ok

Could do, but I don't think it would be quite so drastic. Maybe if you missed out 2 seasons in a row. I'd assume most players advisors are smart enough to tell them not to jump ship immediately though as their new club could easily be in the same situation next season.

Well I suspect that you, as a glorified armchair supporter don't get to watch much non-league football. If you did then you'd realise the diffiulty in getting even a ref for most games.

    idiot.

    I wouldn't panic just yet.

If Platini really is serious I can't see him just changing the allocation of the 3 champions league spots. They'll be more changes in my opinion and if so at the end of the day the Dutch will still be crying. There's a couple of things he can do:-

    • Only allow League winners to automatically qualify
    • Remove the co-efficient system for clubs.
    • Remove the transition from Champions League to UEFA Cup.

None of those matter to EPL clubs but for the poorer middle nations they will hurt.

but isn0't the player who has to ask for the "video rep" to the referee and then the ref checks with his fellow analists watching the videos and has to wait for the decission and all that? it would be too much time lost IMO and god knows that too much playing time is lost in footie already

This post is completely out of order as well as being utter crud. It's certainly true that football has a lot to learn from rugby and other sports, and I find it deeply ironic that despite its greater popularity and vastly superior riches it's still backward in relation to various other less international sports.

Of course video replays won't be available at lower levels, that's beside the point. There are always cavils about how the game will be slowed down, as if it isn't held up enough by feigning injury, other forms of time-wasting and the like; in practice it doesn't take long to verify whether a ball has been touched down/stumps broken in time (things where the decision is quite clear either way, but where the referee can't be certain otherwise); this happens maybe once a game if that in rugby, and is surely worth it to get those crucial decisions right (especially when the stakes are as high as they are; perhaps even more so in a low-scoring game like football which often turns on a few moments, and where less than in other sports – being purely about goals – the "better" side doesn't always win). These really are things where you look back once the technology is in place and wonder why there was ever such a fuss.

Perhaps even more importantly, the issue of added time, which is such a farce in football. All in took in rugby was a "time off/time on" system to make the time added on for injuries etc utterly transparent, rather than the ludicrous play-acting, time-wasting, substitutions for which the time isn't added on, etc etc...

Replays aren't available at lower level for most other sports either. Doesn't change much, that's the reality of the situation, nothing is going to be the same from top to bottom.

Even in the current system, the best refs ref in the highest leagues which is hardly makes officiating the same from top to bottom.
