Neither kaka or deco would have moved to Germany, only reason why Diego did was because he wanted away from porto and the only club intrested were bremen.

Why did Frings leave Bayern? He is an excellent player. Best Dm of the last WC for a mile.

Because he didn't get along with Magath / the club ("FC Hollywood"). And I agree, I would choose Fring over any DM in the world these days, consistently great performances for us and die Mannschaft for years now.

He is the (not so) 'secret captain' of Werder and die Mannschaft now, and extremely important for both. It's no coincidence that Germany lost in the WC without him, and Werder against Schalke just recently, again without him.

Frings is consistently overlooked or left off of "team of 2006" lists. There isn't any defensive midfielder who had been better than him last season.

I don't believe in this Kaka stuff. In 99 Kaka was an unknown 17 year old boy without any experience at pro level. In fact he baceme a professional only in 2001. Bayern have never signed any young brazilian player. In 99 Santacruz was one of the stars of the Copa America. No one would choose Kaka over him.

I think this article refers to Kaka/Deco at a younger age when they were not yet the big stars they are today.

Actually Bremen were not the only club interested. There were also some clubs from Italy, England and Spain interested in him, Deportivo de La Coruña for example. None of the big ones though, fortunately.

Bremen wanted Diego since he was 16, but (of course) it was never really possible for us. However, Bremen always followed his development closely, invited his dad to Bremen home matches etc.

Then last year, due to several other lucky circumstances the possibility to get him was finally there, and so he finally found his way to Werder Bremen.

You see, sometimes fairytales come true...
