You can add Nasri, the little wizard, 19 years on the verge to enter into the French National Team. The best - by far- Marseille player this year. I Will not be surprised if he leaves for a bigger club at the end of the season.

You wouldn't be if you watched him play a lot - he's massively overrated.
He goes to ground more often in 90 mins than Makelele has in a career - perhaps he'll be a really good player when he's learnt to stay on his feet.
Like Roy Keane?
The Makelele comparison holds little water because that's not his job for Shakhtar. That's Duljaj's role in the side.
You're just jealous of his hair, admit it.

He's a attacking midfield right footer. His only problem is that he doesn't score much, but he does create a lot.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
Don't you find it somewhat odd that he hasn't joined a top side over the last few years.Stefan Kuntz wrote:Yaya Toure should be with a top club in England or Spain sooner rather than later.
I mean ourselves, Man Utd, Juventus and Inter were all reported to have been interested in "the new Vieira". Nothing happened and he joined Monaco. I seen him play once or twice whilst he was in Greece and he impressed very much. But he is not an automatic starter for the Ivory Coast either so maybe there is something that we don't know about him that is holding him back. Like attitude and application.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
Sergio Ramos. Has been class at the back, in the centre and at Right back, he's been solid, booked less this season, looks more reassuring than Cannavaro ironically. Has gained some vital experience in the past year; La Liga, CL, WC. Still has 10 odd years ahead of him
Next level would be becoming recognised as one of the best defenders in the world a tough thing to do..

@ Batman
From your list I think that Quaresma has the best chance of making onto the next level. Sneijder is also a good shout, but he needs the right League. Quaresma has done really well over the last few years and is having a very good Champions League season thus far. He was brilliant against us in Portugal.
I can't see Klose leaving Germany or Bremen for that matter, so I think he won't move up that extra level.
Ribery has gone of the radar over the last six months so I am unsure whether clubs will make a move for him. If he gets his last seasons form back then certainly. He was seriously bad vs Argentina in that friendly match. Doesn't look composed.
Torres = The new Joaquin. Hype based on a brilliant few games. There president won't let him go either. If he does get a big move I could se him flopping.
One name you could add to that list is David Villa. Much better than Nando Torres IMO.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
Dmytro Chygrynskiy should move soon; before the start of the 2008/2009 season if he doesn't want to stagnate. He was in UEFA's team of the tournament in the European U21 World Championship and was probably Ukraine's best player on the way to the final.
He's already won a Ukrainian league title and got decent Champions League experience without really being embaressed - he was Shakhtar's best defender when they beat Roma.
The only problem is that if he moves to a big club he won't be first choice and moving to a smaller club could be difficult for him because he's probably pretty used to dominating opposition teams. Would also curb his willingness to step forward with the ball at his feet aswell. He's not the best in the world at it, but he's keen to do so and it's something he'll hopefully develop a little further, because too few defenders seem to want to contribute in open play towards attacks.
Think he'd be really suited to the Premiership personally. He's amazing in the air for someone of his age and relative inexperienece. Whether or not he's good enough for the top 4 or not is the question though. I think he'd suit Arsenal personally. I can imagine him being the type of defender that would work alongside Toure in the long-run. He's far more comfortable with the ball at his feet than Senderos.
Then again, he could just move to a better league and fall flat on his face, who knows?

He's not as fast as Djourou but probably better in the air. He's alot more composed when he has the ball at his feet aswell, going by what I've seen so far.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
Djourou is also very good on the deck. Is he as good in the tackle as Senderos though? Wenger's pretty happy with the team so I doubt he'd sign someone anyway.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
I don't know whether Rosicky has actually moved to the next level either. he was an excellent player already.
At Barça I think Iniesta deserves a mention.
In Spain in general: Silva has been improving a lot, as have Poulsen and possibly Agüero.

Re: Players ready for the next level?
I think Iniesta has made the step, personally. David Silva is a good shout, but he too may have already made the step.
I was thinking of a player like Alexis from Getafe who has been excellent at an over-achieving, mid-table side, has been on the verge of a call up to with the senior national team, and is being linked with a lot of big clubs including Real Madrid and Milan.
Also Roberto Soldado. Madrid sent him on loan to see if he was ready for the next step and he's doing very well for Osasuna so far. Very good showing with the Spain U21s as well. Should return to Madrid next season...

Re: Players ready for the next level?
Dani Alves too -- having a lot of success at Sevilla, a club that is historically on a level below the top clubs in Spain, and sort of on the fringe of Brasilian national team. He could be on the verge...
Now I can't remember if anyone mentioned him already.
