I'd say Scholes and Makoun were about level.

Scholes got slightly the better of the first half, Makoun got slightly the better of the second half.

Watching the highlights. Definitely legitimate Giggs goal as he clearly asked the referee first. Saying Lille deserved to win is utter, utter bollocks. They were crap. Our chances were far better.

    French surrender still funny.

BTW, why was that match shown before the Arsenal game considering that wasn't on ITV1? Baffling.

goal was fine but so was lille's so you can hardly say it was deserved owen Razz

plus lille missed the best chance of the game and a few of their other chances were edited out.

uefa's response to all this should be fun to see

Ronaldo chance was the best of the game. All he had to do was take one small touch round the keeper and pass it in, instead he whacks it as usual. Lille's other chances were nothing really.

Ronaldo chance was the best of the game. All he had to do was take one small touch round the keeper and pass it in,
and all the lille player had to do was make any sort of decent contact either side of the keeper. it was a shocking miss

instead he whacks it as usual. Lille's other chances were nothing really.

The guy was under heavy pressure and had to stretch a bit I think COTR. Ronaldo was pretty much on his own defense wise. See you tommorow though Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Nothing about our penalty then? Which was a clear handball.

Just as we are going on ref decisions, we may as well bring that up as well. Erm
you are the only person to mention this penalty.

I honestly completely missed whatever incident you may be talking about.

    anyone else know?

He's talking about the one where the Lille defender put his arm up very high with his hand dangerously close to the ball but without ever actually touching it.

As a Man U fan he would have come to expect to see them given.

    Laughing

It was a foul on Saha (hand on his head while he was trying to jump to head the ball) and a handball (it struck his hand and Saha's head). Stonewall penalty.

However, the disallowed goal was soft. The freekick was standard.

Well view of the game a day later

not smart enough, proved thats nonsense with both there goal and ours. vidic was fouled but maybe last year with brown he would not have went down and the goal would of counted.

the giggs goal is something maybe would of happenend to us not for us, so very good we are doing things like that.

    precedent or not?

In the European Cup quarterfinal in 1991 between AC Milan and Marseille, the French club had a late 1-0 lead when a stadium floodlight went out. Milan left the pitch and never returned, as team executive Adriano Galliani declared conditions too dark. The team was banned from European competitions for a year and Galliani received a two-year ban.

Maybe too long ago for some to remember?

Giggs was awful, I know he scored but he did nothing but throw his hands in the air, give the ball away and miss opportunities. That lob when he was clean through summed up his game.

Larrsson shouldnt start aginst a physical team again, he didnt win one header, in fact none of the attacking players won a header until Saha came on.

We need a winger and a striker this summer.

Ps we were shocking last night and I hope we dont play that way in the next round, thinking we will get away with it again.

I dunno, you still created the best two chances of the game through Rooney (run down the middle, pass over the top for Ronaldo). You weren't 'shocking', you were just a lot worse than you normally are.

    So I saw it.

Dont remember it, as i would have been 8, i dont want them banned as I want us to hammer them at Old Trafford. Maybe make them play there games behind closed doors or something.

Still think we need a central midfielder as well and Makoun last night really impressed me. May end up being a poor mans Essien but it'd be worth the risk if we can get him on the cheap.

Save more money for the winger and striker as well.
