Jesus! Paul robinson would have been embarassed by that display!
He was pretty much calpable for every goal that Real Madrid scored.

Despicably poor display. with a better keeper between the pegs Bayen may well have won the game.

the only really save of note he made was from a weak Beckham freekick which most keepers would expect to save

Frankly, that was not bad at all... few keepers could ve made that one...

    apart from that, yeah, appalling...

I don't know, it was exactly struck with a lot of pace. I reckon most international class keepers would have saved it.

Much like in the English national team - a mediocre keeper is number one due to an absence of challengers.

Lehmann is at least a better keeper than robinson though, by quite some way.

Certainly not top class but the level below that

Nah, I reckon Lehmann is top class, but not WC.

Robinson wouldn't even play in the prem if he wasn't English. He's by far among the worst starting XI keepers in the prem.

Oliver Kahn has always been known to concede a lot of goals in big matches. In recent years he conceded 3 to Liverpool, 5 to England, 4 to Real, 4 to us etc. Maybe it's a poor defence, although he's always been overrated imo.

Still a bad night for the German keepers though.

They conceded 4 out of the 7 goals. I'm sure the German goalkeeping coach will be pulling his hair out if this continues.

Oliver Khan has been shit for 2 years now. He's like a boxer that won't accept that his powers have gone. He should've followed Schmeichel & Seaman's lead and walked away when he was still a credible force.

    @ deisler

What are you on about? all three goals were his fault.

the first one he rebounded to the FEET of Raul, the second he flapped and did'nt reach an incredibly slow header from helguera and the third he practically jumped out of the way of the ball. If he'd just stood his ground he'd have saved it.

Out of ten, he gets a bit fat ZERO from me

He retired after his 1st average/mediocre/dodgy season... when he started letting in shots from distance all over the place. And yet he still made THAT save vs. Sheffield United in the Semis of the F.A Cup.

He walked when he knew he was losing it. Khan is refusing to do the same... and is subsequently ruining his legacy. Ale

Schmeichel's no, but Kahn I'm not sure. I may be bias here, but I think the only keeper you can compare to Schmeichel (since the Premiership started) is Cech, and I even believe Cech still has a long way to go before he can match Schmeichel (although he still has a long time left at the highest level).

I always thought Kahn was overrated, even in 00-01. Ale

Hmmm, I suppose you're right, when he started making errors, he stepped down, and it's only fair that he played until those errors crept into his game.

Kahn in 2001-2003, especially at the 2002 WC, showed some of the most stunning performances for a goalie ever, and I say this as a Bremen fan who hates his guts. Kahn's form in 2002 was unparalleled since the Yashin days, and this includes Schmeichel who I really admire.

It's no coincidence that Kahn won the golden ball in 2002, as the first goalie ever.

That's not the point I was making.

Khan at his best was a lot better than Seaman at his best - but the Englishman knew when to walk away. That's all.

Kahn HAS to retire at the end of the season

he is destroying his legacy big time

    the fire is gone

I say, lock him up with Birgit Prinz for about 3 months and who knows they might sire the next generation of German super-footballers: not exactly Mia Hamm/Bierhoff lookalikes, but certainly a kind of hybrid that knows no antidote, or rather a player with no natural predator in the football kingdom
