    (Futsal is 5-a-side)

Finals will be held in Portugal, who are qualified as hosts (would have qualified otherwise too).

Results of group stages (country, matches played, wins, draws, losses, goals scored, goals conceded, points):

    A
    Italy 3 3 0 0 26 4 9
    Belarus 3 2 0 1 9 8 6
    France 3 1 0 2 8 21 3
    Turkey 3 0 0 3 7 17 0

    B (too be completed)
    Slovakia 1 1 0 0 6 2 3
    Ukraine 1 1 0 0 3 0 3
    Israel 1 0 0 1 0 3 0
    Andorra 1 0 0 1 2 6 0

    C
    Spain 3 3 0 0 22 2 9
    Poland 3 2 0 1 10 6 6
    Macedonia 3 1 0 2 5 10 3

    Croatia 3 2 0 1 10 8 6
    Kazakhst. 3 1 0 2 13 16 3
    Bosnia-H. 3 0 0 3 9 16 0

    F

    Hungary 3 2 0 1 13 7 6
    Lithuania 3 1 0 2 6 8 3
    Greece 3 0 0 3 3 23 0

    Romania 3 2 1 0 8 3 7
    Belgium 3 2 0 1 7 7 6
    Slovenia 3 1 1 1 7 5 4
    Moldova 3 0 0 3 6 13 0

The 7 group winners qualify for the final tournament, which will be a South/Eastern European affair.

By the way Germany didn't dare to enter the competition. Engalnd were knocked out during the qualifiying round (for lesser futsal nations).

I remember Italy had a few (could be more) Brazilians during the last WC. Seems there are a few in the current squad too (just judging by the names, couldn't get detailed player info):

    Gianfranco Angelini
    Valerio Barigelli
    Alexander Feller
    Caio Lucio Gonçalves Farinha
    Assad Fabiano
    Marcio Forte
    Fernando Grana
    Jocimar Jubanski
    Carlos Montovanelli
    Patrick Nora
    Anderson Vasconcelos
    Carlos Scala
    Andrè Mauricio Vicentini
    Bacaro Vinicius
    Edgar Bertoni
    Adriano Foglia
    Felipe Augusto Furlam
    Carlos Morgado
    Erik Ringis
    Sandro Reno Zanetti

Pity in Holland Futsal has a lot of competition from other small(er) team footy variants nowadays. We used to be subtop in the 80s, but there after it went downwards, because of populairty cage-footy and other footygames.

The Dutch FA thought we had the best team in a while (despite the most talented guys optiong for other variants), but there were too many egotrippers. Skill, but no teamplay. Serbia trashed us 6-0. Ouch!

Think we (Holland) have to hope for a WC cage footy (either 2 or 3 a-side). That's what all the outrageously skilled boys play.

Yep, but not in any league anymore (did that for years). But I have team with friends we have a few teams we like to play against. Play more 2-a-side myself (in summer nearly every night). Is easier to organise & outside.

    What about you?

edit: Jermaine Vanenbrug is my fav player.

I used to play often. no league though. only playing with friends, traditional futsal, 5 a-side (including keeper).

now I'm playing now and then, not much.
