Combination of 1,2 and 3 for me.

I think 'won something' is a bit strong. Neither Lampard nor Gerrard looked at their best (without that flukey deflection Lamps would still be goalless), and Crouch is still our second-best striker after Rooney.

However the whole team looked better balanced and it was a step forward from Sven rather than more of the same.

1 to a degree and 3, greece were poor but so were T&T, Sweden & Paraguay and we made them look half good, so i think england must take some credit for making them look so bad, they moved in the right direction yesterday, considering the lack of time on the training pitch under mcclaren/venebles this was a big improvement, i´m sure they can push on with these players, but still short of being a WC team anytimne in the near future, and the next big job is to sort out defending set pieces still iffy yesterday

If Greece had been half as good at corners as Sweden we'd have conceded IMO.

I think were a top class partner for Rooney away from being a very good side. Then all we will have to do is decide between Carrick and Lampard to partner Hargreaves and maybe if Downing continues like he did last night between him and Joe Cole for the left side.

I think alot of us hope Ashton can be the man who partners Rooney mainly because he has the all round game although Owen, Bent and Crouch could all do decent jobs.

The back 5 will always do well imo, our defence always seems to be the part of the team at recent International tournaments.

    Yes.

But my point was Greece were worse than Sweden.

Major points made last night was:

    a) Hargreaves is crucial for the inclusion of Lampard

    b) without Beckham, England have more balance on the right.

    c) Gerrard and Lampard CAN play in the same side, so long as Gerrard plays on the right.

    d) England. and Crouch in particular, play better at pace with short quick passing than any longball.

    All are extremely positive factors
