Post by Puro Tue Mar 06, 2007 6:36 pm

Apparently Arsenal are offering PSV 16 million sterling pounds for Farfán. It seemed almost inevitable that Farfán and Alex will end up playing for Chelsea, but it appears that Arsenal will get in Chelsea's way.

Where will Farfán play? Chelsea or Arsenal? scratch <Ale>

I would presume we'd have to sell Henry if we were to spend that much on one attacking player.

    Top quality plyer though.

I'm 90% sure Farfán's a Chelsea player for next season. There are reports that Arsenal will put up a fight and get in Chelsea's way. PSV fans are resigned that Farfán's gone too, but to which team? Chelsea or Arsenal?

Alex will not be going anywhere other than the Bridge this summer.

Just think about: Alex or Carvalho partnering Terry Razz Ale

It might take him a little time to adapt to the pace of the Premiership compared to the slower, more technical Dutch league. But he's an excellent centre-half.

Note: the source for the figure of £16 million is Puro, and let's just say his record on such issues is somewhat one-sided...

    I never said that Wink

Farfan is the best player in the dutch league at the moment - read from that what you will. He's only 22, he can play in a variety of positions and is capable of scoring 20+ a season. He's also strong and as he plays in the dutch league he should adjust well to the EPL

I have my suspicions that you and Agooner are in fact the same person.

How long is left on his contract? That makes a massive difference to his value. If it, for example, is only two more seasons after this one then he's young enough to just see it out and have his pick of teams when it expires. If it's more like 4 or 5 years then it's quite a different story.

You'd have to ask a Dutch poster - I don't have a clue how long he has left - but he signed two seasons ago and hasn't renewed it so at a guess, he probably has 2 years left after this summer.

I still feel that £16m is perfectly reasonable and would in fact be viewed as a good investment with time - he would be good for us as well as he has a lot of strength and pace - something that we seems to be mutually exclusive at our club

Like I said before, we were apparently in talks about signing hm for €8 mill last season.. Think about it, £16 million is about what we paid for Guddy+Deco!!! There is no way I would pay that much for an unproven player that is good but nothing more than that. You are paying about 100% too much..

Deco was a great buy, no doubt - Guddy is getting on a bit - Frafan has 6 years on him - at a rate of £1.5m a year I'd say its worthwhile - in fac tthe same equation could be applied to Deco.

I doubt we're even in for him butn IMO any club getting him for £16m has got a good deal

    Why should that sound familiar?

Farfan is not the best player in the eredivisie but he's in the top10 I'd say. Not because he's bad or owt, but because there so much talent on many positions.

And at least you could have seen how Farfan raped Gallas and Gilberto (twice) everytime they let him come near enough. Farfan is a Drogba clone, but harder, faster and a bit more technique. To paraphrase TS, one man gang.
