Valencia have won the battle to sign Getafe's highly-rated centre-half Alexis, according to Spanish reports.
Alexis only joined Getafe from Malaga last summer, but has been an important figure in the team boasting the meanest defence in La Liga.
Real Madrid and Milan had been keen on the defender, while he rejected a move to Fiorentina earlier this month.
Reports had suggested Real were favourites to sign Alexis, but he has now accepted a contract with Valencia until 2013 after passing a medical.
He had a buy-out clause of €8million (£5million) in his contract, but Valencia will pay €6million (£4million) and allow Miguel Pallardo and Pablo Hernandez to go in the opposite direction.
With Roberto Ayala agreeing to join Villarreal next season, Valencia have been looking to bring in defensive reinforcements.
Alexis will now pitch up at the Mestalla in the summer, three years after the Che had originally tried to sign him from Malaga.
Meanwhile, reports also claim that Valencia have lined up a deal to bring in Nigerian midfielder Sunny from Polideportivo Ejido next season.
Sunny has secured a Spanish passport and could join for €3million (£2million), with Valencia loaning out some young players as part of the deal.
