I just looked at the tables....I couldn't believe how unstable the position is for England,Italy and Spain...or even Portugal for that matter...

What are the chances that England and Italy both don't qualify...That would be pretty unlucky for me..

Obviously its on early days and there are many games left....But things at the moment need to improve for all 4 of the above teams.

    I hope Finland qualify btw.

We can if we can safely assume the FA can find a vastly superior manager in time to save us from failure. Given that they are never going to sack McLaren, we have to win this. Sad

Italy and Portugal will get through just fine. It's Spain and England who really need to worry.

You know I am almost wishing Israel to win this match, and look that I really like England.

I just don’t like Mclaren at all, I think he showed a little bit of bad character when he so spectacularly dropped Beckham, to be honest I think he used Beckham as a scapegoat, since he was a ease target, it was a move made to the media, he wanted to make a statement about changes, and the future and how strong and decided he would be about select the team (what a joke dear God).

I don’t think he dropped Beckham because he was playing poor or his football no longer could be used by England. And the sad part is that Beckham was one of the best England players in the last WC, at least he showed that he wanted to win that tournament.

I just can’t believe ENGLAND, one of the most famous football nations in the world, with great talented players, picked Mclaren to be their national coach, I am sorry but you CAN do better than that.
    But , good luck anyway.

Oh dear. Im telling you, the under 21s who played this morning could probably beat this lot.

Fullbacks are a massive weakness- carragher is a fabulous centreback but a crap fullback, Neville is just crap full stop, Gerrard should be playing in Lampard's position with Lennon ( or Dyer) on the right and Downing on the left.

Lennon on the left is going to be a major mistake - he's not experienced enough in that position.

Looks horribly unbalanced as per usual

Since McLaren took over, the only England match in which I've seen the 11 on the pitch use a well-defined formation is in the 3-5-2 match against Croatia. Every other time the team he has picked has been completely unbalanced, kind of like Rijkaard when he's making substitutions in the 70th minute of a game we're losing.

Your probably right. He's far far better on the right, but still is very raw.

at 19 he should have been playing for the under 21s today, if he has a poor game today it'll destroy his confidence and no doubt everyone will be quick to blast him, just like Downing/Hargreaves/Carrick etc

    So..

Israel will play 5 across the midfield.

McClaren then will play a CMF player out wide right, a Right winger on the left, a left back who is right footed.

    Good luck breaking them down..

England's best chances will come from set pieces.

Dropping Beckham, we have the likes of Gerrard or Lennon to step in.

Dropping Gary Tache Neville and we have the world class talents of Micah Richards, Luke Young and his brother Pip Neville to step in.
