For all the orgasmic talk about how great the "Anfield atmosphere" etc. etc. is, the San Siro has been equally, if not more, magnificent tonight. Yet it won't get half the press coverage that Liverpool do for it. Not that an issue like "crowd support" deserves the amount of hype that it does anyway.
it was stunning the whole way through. after the third goal the camera was evening rocking for about a minute

    @ kas

    with regards to fergie

why did the milan fullbacks have the freedom of the wings in the first half. it was suicidal??

why did giggs start on right wing ??

why did he wait so late to change it ??

why did united not get a kick in the first half??

ancelotti owned him in every part of the game tonight and boy did his players produce for him

    stunning performance

United need another striker in the Summer - just not Berbatov. Wink

I predicted a Milan - Pool Final... I should've gone in the pick 'em tourney Sad

That was just a football Lesson for United to learn. Only Scholes & Van Der Saar come out of that with any credit.

Massive credit to Milan, I really enjoyed watching them tonight, you could see the hunger and desire right from the word go.

Gatusso was immense, Absolutely fantastic, Brilliant Milan, credit to United, they've had a good campaign but in the end you have to come out and play even if it's at hostile arena's and that was the San Siro tonight, United didn't perform and Milan played brilliant stuff.

    Should be a god final

To be honest, much as I would love to gloat, United have gone along way to reparing any reputation they had for being a $h!t team in Europe. Just weren't good enough tonight. Don't think they're a joke on the continent anymore though - atleast not at OT.

Milan are a phenomenon. All the talk is about 2 in 3 years for us, but 3 finals in 5 years is something else. Amazing.

great performance by Milan: so controlled, I was disappointed that the match finished so early - Chelsea look and learn, this is how you destroy an opponent with class, you can win and entertain.

MOTM: Seerdorf, Kaka will get all the credit but Seedorf was the main man - along with Gattuso ( Pirlo faded in the 2nd half).

PS. Rio>better than Vidic, its just Vidic's aerial ability that makes him look so good in the EPL.

    Dida - Reina
Both superb at penalties. If Dida continues his in-game performance like he played today, then both are equal.

    Nesta - Carragher
    Committed defenders.

    Gattuso - Mascherano
    Excellent specialist midfield destroyers.

    Pirlo - Alonso
Deep lying playmakers who can pass anywhere, and take good setpieces.

    Kaka' - Gerrard
Inspirational attacking midfielders who like going forward.

    Gilardino - Kuyt.
    Non-scoring strikers.

So I agree with TS that it's too close to call. But this time I give Milan the mental edge over Liverpool.

Especially considering that Scholes was Man Utds only decent player tonight, and looking at the way Gattuso can read the game and play the ball well too, I think as well as a striker Man Utd need a midfielder thats more capable than Hargreaves is. To spend £18 million or whatever on him would be a waste of money in my view. Certainly, I cant see him and Carrick ever growing enough to be a partnership equal to Scholes/Keane or Scholes/Carrick this season.

Congratulations to Milan, their performance was top class. And good luck for the final!

I'm not a coach. It's not my job to find solutions.

Signing Didi Hamann as an emergency signing would have been a good start. Other than that? Fletcher/O'Shea/Heinze to strictly man-mark. Though I don't know if that would have been possible first leg due to injuries. Fergie's fault for not having a single destroyer in his squad.

Hey man...what do you think of this tie? Do you fancy Milan's chances?

Depends on how Gilardino/Inzaghi (who ever is likely to play upfront) does in the next few weeks. But yeah, I think you can beat them. I certainly do not get why everyone's jumping on this "United have too much pace they'll blow Milan away" arguement. They've got no more pace than they had two years ago (unless Saha returns).

I still think the key to the game is that Milan have a top class destroyer in Gattuso (and a couple of decent ones in Ambrosini and Brocchi) whereas United don't have a single destroyer fullstop. Maybe Darren Fletcher, it's still not 'his game' as such. Though he's done a job there.

My opinion on the match is simply that I feel Gattuso can give Ronaldo a far tougher time in a personal battle than O'Shea/Smith/Fletcher can Kaká.

    Booyah.

Still lumping Carradona in there with Terry and Rio? Two finals in 3 years now TS at a higher level of football. Carragher hasn't got a decent run in his favoured position for England. Should be alongside Jar Jar.

For me ManU's best players were Scholes, VDS, Fletcher and Rooney (he's being criticised here but I thought he occasionally created a lot of space for others e.g. the pass to Fletcher who missed their best opportunity). I think C.Ronaldo has shown today why a player who can't pass and has no vision should not be WPOY. You can't rely on trickery and physical attributes in football all the time - you've gotta used your brains at the very top level. No ManU players deserve above a 6 except maybe VDS but he did concede 3 goals (none really his fault).
