Yup, got Chelsea on the TV and Pool on my laptop , first half was utter shite, since Kuyt has come on we've been much better, Pennant is involved in most moves, Gerrard has been great, happy days

Bloody west ham. had 2 great chances (Boa Morte & Zamora) right at the start of the 2nd half. Chelsea now get 2 insurance goals, and the game is all but dead. The Defensive Choke will now be applied.

Full time: West Ham 1-4 Chelsea
Very good performance by us, particularly by those who started, despite playing on Sunday against Blackburn (Essien, Lampard, Terry, Carvalho, Drogba)
9th consecutive Prem win, and the unbeaten run is something like 20 games (with 17 wins) now.
Ratings:
Cech 7
Diarra 6
Carvalho 6
Terry 6
Bridge 7
Mikel 7
Essien 7
Lampard 6
SWP 9
Drogba 8
Kalou 7
SUBS:
Ferreira 6
J Cole 6
Ballack 6
MOTM - Shaun Wright-Phillips. Since the turn of the year, he's been a different man. Only played 22 minutes in the FA Cup semi, yet came on and was brilliant in setting up the chance that eventually led to Ballack's goal. Tonight he looked very confident. Very self-confident. Almost Wright-Phillips of old. More of the same please Shaun

I know Mourinho has mentioned it but why, in a country when we're always smugly banging on about our sense of fair play and honesty, has there not been an uproar from neutrals about Chelsea ALWAYS playing after United ?
And if anyone at United says it makes no difference then obviously they wouldn't mind alternating who plays 2nd.
We all know that the only time Chelsea played 1st recently United bottled it.
This is absolutely disgraceful.

I'm actually confident we'll win our remaining 5 games (even the game at the Emirates), but unless United f@ck up, either at City or Everton, there's nothing we can do.
I will be absolutely gutted if we lose it on goal difference.

Serve you right for not playing attacking football. This is the first game where it was interesting to watch Chelsea pass, and that was only at the end when long ball specialist Fwank and Drogba came off.

4-1 was flattering for Chelsea...the first half we were by far the better team. Dunno what happened in the 2nd Zamora missed a sitter and we fell to pieces. BUT no way should that game of ended 4-1.

Could become interesting indeed, Arsenal have nothing to play for...well they just need to end 4th..But who would Wenger prefer Maureen or Fergie?? If Arsenal play the full squad, I dont think Chelsea will win!!! Its up the Arse to decide...

You played good, could easily have n=beaten them had Zamora scored that sitter takes the piss, can finish the most difficult ball against Arsenal but misses open goals against Chelsea.

Thats pressure for you. I cant fault the team to be fair...just the scoreline was unbelievable...
Thats about the 22nd different defence we've used. That's why we let in so many.

Feel sorry for you Deano, this seems to be the ending of Wham at the highest level of English football. I had such confidence in you guys at the beginning of this season!! Uefa-cup should have been waiting for you, not Plymouth away on a rainy day..

I don't think they can score passed us without conceding at least an equal number of goals. The way their midfield plays they will struggle to create against us other through a long ball to Droagba -infact considering the way Toure has been playing lately maybe they have a good chance after all.

The performances in our best two games have not been entirely convincing. We got 6 points but we need to seriosuly raise our game if we are to beat Chelsea.Agooner wrote:I prefer u guys to ManU but i think we'll end your title hopes at the Emirates.

Thats the thing about building football teams -you need to build defense up even when you're not scoring - when you're not scoring and you're conceding then heads go down, when your scoring but still conceding your always a bit twitchy, when you're not scoring and not conceding you always have something to build upon if you do get a lucky goal here and there. Just look at the difference between Arsenal and ManU, Fergie brought Vidic + Evra when ManU weren't scoring and the fans wanted a striker (Torres) but Fergie built from defense up. Compare that to Arsenal, who were conceding a lot of goals and there have drawn many of the game we should have easily won. Teams now know they can score their only chance against us so they set up defensively and aren't afraid to support attacks when it looks like theres something on.
Teams are more afraid to attack ManU because they know they are less likely to score.

Thats the difference with us though. We usually go at teams and attack them, which is why our results against the bigger teams are generally good. Even tonight we played well by attacking Chelsea.
When we have Gabbidon,Upson,Ferdinand and Konchesky injured as well as Davenport unfit...weare down to the bare bones of our defence. We had to move Neill to CB.
Injuries have played a big part in our downfall.

Not really, IMO all we need to do is keep Drogba and Essien in check (not so easy, i know) and score the clear chance(s) that we will create.

We usually do against the big teams. Pool are the only top 4 side that have outplayed us this season and am not sure we'll perform that bad again this season.

It's funny how every Chelsea game which is in the least bit entertaining automatically becomes the "1st entertaining Chelsea game of the year". We've had 3-4 games like that in 2007 alone.
And besides, there's a difference between playing 'attacking football', and teams just rolling over, like Blackburn, Bolton (twice), Spurs against Man Utd after United scored their 1st goal.
