If Robben plays tonight, he will make his 20th appearance of the season. That's only 2 fewer appearances than John Terry. Rolling Eyes Yet Robben still has 0 goals

Boula shot himself in the foot. He knew he wouldn't replace Carvalho or Terry at the moment, so he had to bide his time, and was doing an excellent job at RB. He's still managed 14 games this season.

Kalou has been injured for a while, and is young, but he has still played a part in 19 games this season, which is 5 more than Wright-Phillips.

Anyone would think these players weren't getting a game.

S4P, Offcourse Robben should have scored in those matches. But when he is on from he creates so much more space. He turned am awful game into a game that was worth watching..

Too put Boula on RB just aint right, MVB tries the same and it just wont work. The guy is simply not fast enough for that. I would take him over Carvalho anytime.

And surely Kalou has more games then SWP, but he has far more talent then him. A guy at his age must play, simple as that. But I blame him for throwing away his own career.

True, it would be and Robben has often been substituted this season for frustrating afternoon after frustrating afternoon. Excellent player, but shoots too often (and unlike Lampard, his are not on target often enough) and often puts in a poor cross for the strikers (which may explain why he shoots so often).

I can tell you now that this season, Robben has started 12/19 games, and come off the bench for the others.

Kalou is only 19 years old, and if you play him too often, he will end up like another Michael Owen. Looks very promising when he comes on, but if played too much, he will effectively burn out. He has started only 3/19 appearances.

Boulahrouz has started 11/14 of his games, and was a first team regular before he opened his mouth.

Yeah, Robben looked very good on Sunday. Maybe the rotation that Jose applies (and it's not just Robben, Kalou, SWP but also Makelele, Ash Cole, Bridge etc), will actually do him a lot of good. I have seen games this season where Robben has played appallingly. Hopefully, he will develop into a real consistent player like C Ronaldo has done this season (and I think Ronaldo gets played too much).

Boula, I agree that RB isn't his best position, but he was doing it very well. Has anyone ever marked Ronaldinho so well over 180 minutes? Sure, you can say that he was (kind of) at fault for both of Barcelona's goals, but to expect him to play 2 flawless matches is asking a bit too much.

You can say that Kalou should be playing week-in week-out now, and I will say that if he does so, he will be burnt out by the time he is 26, I promise. I think Jose is being very clever. The way he is rotating Kalou, Soloman gets Premiership and Champions League experience, but doesn't overload himself. He looks very exciting, but he needs rest time. Wenger believes the same, and he said "Fabregas needs time off, I must drop him, otherwise he will constantly be getting injured when he's older".

    Laughing

I think if Kalou played every match, it would prove to be too much for him. He would be playing 50 matches a season for Chelsea and 10 matches a season for his country (certainly in World Cup year). It would prove to be too much. Even the top pro's, who are in their prime struggle to do it, so asking a 19 year old 'kid', who 8 times out of 10 don't have a fully developed body, to play against 25-30 year old men twice a week is a bit too much.

I see your argument about burning players out, but hes young and he needs games, he is not going to improve as a player sitting on the bench.

Robben hasnt scored since Feb, but what he does do is create space for other players and stops the oppositions players on his side of the pitch going forward, as they are afraid of him, the same thing Ronaldo used to do even when he wasnt scoring.

I hate Robben as a person, but he is a wonderful player and it pains me as a football fan, to see him sitting on the bench, watching Sheva and Ballack do nothing (as a united fan it brings me delight as your not half as good with them on the pitch).

I wonder how long he will stick around for, as these young arrogant Dutchies dont like being squad players.

I said Robben is wonderful player but he is also arrogant and self indulgent like alot of the other dutch wonderkids, he needs the attention and to be the main player and

Arrogance usually comes from being more talented than those around you and knowing that. I am not saying, being unhappy being on the bench is arrogant, what I am saying is that when he is no longer motivated by money, he will want to leave.

About the Chelsea v Newcastle game, Roeder talked about Rossi alot, which suggested he would play him, but Sibierski has been playin well recently so he should keep his place. Although I would like to see Rossi play as then it might be worth watching.
