Dario Gradi to quit !

After 24 years and over 1,200 games in charge of Crewe he has decided to quit and become director of football (in other words tut at the new boss every time they lose). Academy boss Steve Holland will take over the first team.

The guy has been a legend taking crewe out of $h!t and up to the Championship, as well as developing many many top quality youngsters like David Platt, Neil Lennon, Geoff Thomas, Dean Ashton, Danny Murphy, Rob Hulse, Seth Johnson, Rob Jones, Steve Jones. It seems Billy Jones, Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard are the next youngsters on their way through.

. Great football man. Shame he never made it big, but that was a testament to him. Was loyal to Crewe. They have always been a club I have liked so good luck to them and whoever is going to be in charge in the future.

Worked with him when i was yonger, was absolutely obsessed with the technical side of the game, partly due to why Crewe has churned out some top players in relation to the divisions they have played in (remember they were in the conference) and still managed to make a player out of David Platt.

His revolutionary ideas for a lower league team to invest everything in youth development and training facilities (reaseheath is fabulous) has definately allowed long term stability for the club.

Good luck to the guy, he always said he never did pre-madonna's he just wanted young players who could put their foot on the ball and pass.
