ENGLAND has emerged as top alternative to host the 2010 World Cup.
FIFA are worried hosts South Africa will not be ready on time as there are major worries over security, stadiums and infrastructure.
England has everything in place already and FIFA chief Sepp Blatter said: “England can host the tournament at short notice, of that I am sure.”
World soccer bosses are considering other nations, with Australia an option.
But SunSport can reveal Blatter has been informed FIFA could lose billions unless they stage the tournament in England if South Africa is not ready.
TV rights and marketing packages have been sold on the basis of games being played around South African time — and there is only one hour difference in UK summer time.
A FA spokesman said: “There have been no discussions with FIFA. However, should they require contingency planning we have some of the finest stadia.”

It is the sun though.
