Strange, but understandable .. Wigan did sell some key players from their first season in the Premier League (Bullard, Roberts and Chimbonda etc) and they only survived on the last day of the last season .. he may have felt he cant do any more , but should have at least gone into their 3rd season ..

Doubt he'll go to City, if they don't think Pearce is good enough they're hardly going to make a move for Jewell. Sevn maybe.
Its probably a wise decision, with the personnel they had, you'd expect them to not have to win the last game of the season to stay up. Having said that, I can't see anyone doing a better job next season.
Next season I see Wigan, Fulham and the team promoted from the playoffs going down.
Sunderland are a dead cert to stay up IMO and Birmingham have shown great resilience to bounce back up

I doubt he will be our new boss, we wont appoint anyone till the take over has happened and i think we will go for someone more high profile to be honest.

The Wigan chairman said Jewell's health suffered and he's going to take a break from the game. I agree with Goater in thinking that City will probably try for a bigger name, and Sven is a definite possibility if the takeover provides a lot of transfer money.

What shocks me is Wigan have gone with Hutchings, Jewell's assistant, as their new manager. Apparently he had a terrible record in his brief time in charge of Bradford City.

Hew started the season with them 2000/2001 but was sacked before Christmas. Bradford City were terrible though, just as bad as Sunderland last year.
