tralali-tralala; dubidooo-dubidummmm cheers cheers cheers cheers

Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly Bubbly

    - biggest upset since Kaiserslautern won the title immediately after being promoted (the great Otto Rehagel was in charge)

    - with the second youngest team in Bundesliga history (Gladbach with Netzer, Vogts... still hold the record)

    - with a team featuring MANY talents straight out of the STuttgart youth academy (Gomez, Khedira, Tasci, Beck...)

    - with the first two Mexicans ever to play in Germany

    - ie with a team created on a shoe-string budget (@anglo, how much did you spend at the start of the season Question )

    - with a manager who was publicly given the prefix "ITERMIM" by the club's supervisory board president

    - playing some of the most entertaining football in the Bundesliga, whilst being defensively solid

    - producing a breathtaking season finish of 8 straight wins when all the others started to lose their nerves

    <Ale> <Ale> <Ale> <Ale>

bear in mind that virtually all the VFB players are on long-term contracts and that none of them show any inclination to leave (Gomez had offers from the likes of Juve, Khedira Milan...) and you know which Bundesliga club is doing the best work just now

the Veh-Heldt sporting-commercial management partnership is almost intimate in its understanding

    and ABOVE ALL

the players form a TEAM, eine MANNSCHAFT

even the subs feel part of the adventure, the championship bonus will be divided equally amongst EVERYBODY including the backroom staff

and imagine that, the South-Latin Americans in the team, are the first to arrive at training Very Happy

Congratulations to Veh, Heldt and the team

a well deserved , breathtaking result : difficult to repeat, no doubt, but with those two mangers Stuttgart could become a top three Bundesliga club for years to come whilst my beloved Bremen could fall out of the picture with even HSV under STevens overtaking them in the medium-term

the 57.000 stadium with an athletics track will now be converted into a pure football arena, I hear, anglo will tell us more no doubt

in fact, kipferl, when you have stopped celebrating, it would be a good idea to tell us a little bit about your Stuttgart that has managed to stay below the radar for so long

a good summary of the VFB ingredients of their success is found here (in German)

    good point , fey

no Nederlanders needed to win the Saladbowl Very Happy

Bremen are now making the mistake of converting a very GERMAN team (Klose, Frings, Baumann, Wiese, Borowski, Fritz...) into a more Brazilian one

they are blinded by the hype and losing out as a result

not because Diego and co are not good enough, they are, but because the team-spirit is being undermined

HSV thought they would become world-beaters by going Dutch, ie buying de Jong, Matthijsen... and fell onto their face

Dortmund exchanged young Odonkor for Brazilian Tigana and so it continues

Stuttgart showed that products of the local youth academy were easily good enough , when given a chance to show what they've got

watch out for Stuttgart, Leverkusen , Schalke (already very German or becoming more so) and HSV (Zidane is about to join them) next season

not so sure about Bremen and Bayern

    the question now is

    WITHER Stuttgart

the next season will be VERY hard

    a) everybody will be chasing the reigning champs; the pressure will be unbearable

    b) Schalke, Bremen, Bayern and HSV will NOT ALL choke yet again

    c) they have CL action to distract them as well

    d) they could be tempted to buy a few big names who destroy the TEAM - spirit

    -------------------------

agree with you, I feel very sorry for Schalke

49 years of hurt ; missed the opportunity of a life-time, just like Bremen

While every betting house had Bayern winning the Bundesliga this season, I was convinced they weren't gonna do it. My pick were Bremen, but they did their best to throw it away. Bremen had chance after chance after chance to get a hold of the title, but chose not to do it.

What can we say about Schalke! They were just as bad as Bremen. Were both of them playing "No, you take it...No, you take it!"? Biggrin

Stuttgart were next in line so they simply said "I take that Salad Bowl, Thank you very much". Congrats to them Stuttgart! Biggrin <Ale>

    quite right , puro

I have never seen anything like this in my life

it's like Schalke and Bremen had about 10 penalties each , facing somebody stationary like Robinson, and scored ZERO goals

the title win will never get easier for those two chokers

still, Stuttgart did well to hold it together

do you still remember the odds for VFB to win the Saladbowl Question

How do you come to this conclusion, Otto?

The players we signed for the last season were:

    Wome
    Diego (for Micoud)
    Almeida
    Rosenberg (for Zidan)

    Mertesacker
    Fritz
    Niemeyer

So actually we have more Germans now than the season before. Not sure what Allofs plans for the next season, but so far you are wrong.

We still have more Germans in our first eleven than any other German team.

    chrissi

look at the first 11 and you know I'm right

allofs has indeed bought three Germans last year but I am talking about what will happen for NEXT season

Bayern got Schlaudraff and probably Jansen

Schalke went for Jones and Streit

Bremen are currently chasing a Brazilian you seem to get so excited about and will lose Klose in a few weeks time or next year at the latest; the MONSTER's replacement, however, will almost certainly not be German either (Gomez, Helmes... are not interested, Schlaudraff declined just like Kiessling did in the past)

    the upside is Schindler

the major problem will be if the Brazilian you always dream about (name escapes me , but HSV are interested as well) joins Bremen; he could be brilliant, but his arrival would divide the team into two factions even more

    @Otto

We have currently Wiese, Fritz, Mertesacker, Baumann, Frings, Borowski, Hunt and Klose in our first eleven, that makes 8 out of 11.

Klose will stay in Bremen for one more season. At least that´s what Allofs said today (again)...

Not sure what will happen next season, but I doubt even then you will find a team with more German players...

Bayern were HUGE odds on favorites at 4/9 (that wasn't happening).
Bremen were next at 5/1. Lost $100 there.
    Schalke and Hamburg at 7/1
    Leverkusen at 16/1
    Hertha Berlin at 28/1
    Dortmund at 33/1
    Stuttgart at 40/1 Shocked

    @puro

if you had put $ 10.000 on Stuttgart to win the title,

your gains would have enabled you to get Lahm on a TWO-Year loan a few years back , with $150.000 to spare

you must be kicking yourself Very Happy

    @ Mexicans

did the Stuttgart title win get any media coverage back in Mexico Question
