ITALIA 4 X CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!

MILAN 7 X CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!

    <Ale>

What a night!!!! What a day!! And i have a very sore headache!!!

We played a bad game, Liverpool as expected supressed all the space for Kaka and Seedorf, i thought Pirlo was fantastic is being calm in distributing out of defence and a couple of reverse passes he played were genius. Kaka was clean through on Reina but incorrectly called for an offside, so we could have consolidated the victory earlier. Liverpool had the possession in the middle of the field and in the wider spaces, but couldn't create many chances, Dida was untroubled, in contrast, Milan were clinical and efficient with what little we did manage to create. Pippo has qualities that you cannot teach, the wonder of pure instinct and feeling.

A wonderful trophy for Maldini, for Cafu finally, for Kaka, and for Nesta, Gattuso, Pirlo, Inzaghi and Oddo - you are now CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD AND CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE IN ONE YEAR!!!!

So proud for Carlo, he was under enourmous pressure in the winter, we had a very very poor domestic season, but gladly sacrificed it for this wonderful cup, this cup, this wonderful cup!!! A perfect riposte to Istanbul, Liverpool fans may cry, but they will never come close to feeling how raped Milan felt that evening, and this victory represents a partial vindication.

Mascherano was fantastic, here is a player that Milan would like very much, Gattuso didn't have the best of matches but we excuse him, he has done so much for us and the country this year! Jankulovski was poor, but with Liverpool playing advanced wingers, you expected he and Oddo to be pressured and pushed back. An essential part of Benitez's plan was also pressurising the higher spaces tightly, not letting Milan play the ball out of defence into midfield with any time and instead we played more longer passes than usual. Oddo was better defensively i thought, Nesta was magnificent, Maldini was a little below par, now he can have surgery and be a new man again for next seasons push!

A vital objective completed for us, now we must conquer Sevilla in the Super Cup and push for that big Intercontinental Cup, and rebuild this summer for the squad to challenge to retain OUR cup!

For the true Liverpool fans, not the filth who had forged tickets and forced out the real Liverpool fans with real tickets, unlucky. But you have a fantastic and clever manager, and this summer you have some money to buy better players. You will back i am sure of it, and your fans are so vocal and amazing, they never shut up!

Anyway, a marvellous evening for the city and for Italy, i am very very proud of the whole squad, and yesterday evening brought tears of relief, joy and pride. Wonderful, wonderful Milan, and long may our love with this magnificent Cup continue!

    MILAN PER SEMPRE <Ale>

Italy- WC winners despite being second best on the night to France

Milan- EC despite being second best on the night to Liverpool.

Thats the beauty of football for you, the best team doesnt always win- you'd be right to celebrate the good fortune that football has brought you this year after previous heartaches!

I didn't think Pirlo was the impressive to be honest - in general your midfield was swamped.

Your defence was very impressive though, aside from some nervous moments from Jankulovski.

Inzaghi also showed the world why he is the most frustratingly annoying player on the planet.

If Liverpool had been a bit more up for it in the final third, the scoreline would have been completely different IMO but they lacked quality in certain departments - primarily on the wings.

Mascherano though was the MOTM for me - no surprise that the only real chance Milan had whilst he was on the pitch was the free kick conceded by Alonso, who for me had a very poor game.

Kaka, though quiet, created the two key moments of the game. Best player on the planet without doubt Ale

In my opinion Nesta had a marvelous game with 2 very crucial last minute challenges which otherwise could have changed the whole complexion of the game.

It was predictable that Kaka & Seedorf would be clamped down but then the others rose to the occasion.

Pennant looked good for Liverpool & Mascherano was superb in his role

Overall a very good contest between 2 very distinguished clubs

Kaka was quiet, we did underperform, but that was down to Liverpool's stength in surpressing the space in their half so Kaka and Seedorf had no space to move and play in. At the start, i thought even our players were surprised by how high Liverpool's fowards pressed the Milan defence and midfield, we resorted to a ,ot of lost and wasted long passes in those periods.

Kaka was great, very quiet, but still influential when he's allowed to turn and run with the ball, Liverpool did an excellent job of doubling and keeping him facing away most of the time.

Pirlo is a calm influence, musch of his work goes unnoticed and even unappreciated, but he brings such a calm head, his vision is unbelievable, those two reverse passes were amazing, and he keeps the ball and makes his own space in the tightest areas, he can fashion space for himself at the edge of our box, he was excellent at doing that last night, but admittedly, was required to provide other duties.

For Ronaldo, he can feel part of triumph, it was his presence at the club that turned our fotune in the league, and gave the team back its hope domestically and allowed us to focus more on Europe. Next year, hopefully he will have a chance to be part of the team in his own final.

Mr and Mrs. Shevchenko were at the match last night, i wonder what they made of it all, Mrs. Sheva wants home again apparantly, and what that lady wants, her lap dog husband usually follows! Biggrin

    Silvio reveals Pippo 'dream'

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has had a hugely successful career in politics, but he could well have had an alternative career as a clairvoyant after revealing he predicted Filippo Inzaghi would score twice in their UEFA Champions League win over Liverpool.

The Rossoneri claimed a 2-1 win over Liverpool thanks to a brace of goals from Inzaghi and Berlusconi was on hand to take in the celebrations.

Berlusconi has admitted the win has removed a weight from the club's shoulders following their loss to Liverpool in 2005 and is looking for coach Carlo Ancelotti to build again for next term.

"On the eve of the match I told Inzaghi he would score a double and this is what happened," Berlusconi, who had called for Alberto Gilardino to start ahead of Inzaghi, told the Italian press.

"We are absolutely delighted. There is a lot of happiness because we can now forget about the Istanbul loss which had been weighing us down.

"On that occasion we played beautiful football and lost, but on this occasion we won."

Ancelotti is likely to be handed a sizeable transfer kitty, as Berlusconi added: "We have the intention to strengthen the team and we will try to make some important signings."

I think the majority of Chelsea fans wouldn't mind seeing the back of Sheva to be honest, but Chelsea have said that they'll be tight(ish) in the purse strings this summer so can't see them selling one of their main assets

I agree- winning is the most important thing, and the manner inwhich you win is soon forgotten in history.

I didnt think you deserved to lose in 2005, but equally thought Milan were pretty awful last night, yet had good fortune on their side just like Liverpool did in 2005.

does make u wonder if "karma" is more than just a theory!

Deserved for Milan for their previous games, particularly V Man United, and the same for Italy for that great game against Germany.

You are a lucky boy- not many of us can say the teams we support are both World and European Champions. I worry about the "karma" though- in what way will you have to make up this good fortune? Wink

Fey, you cannot start to believe how this emotion of being a world champion and a european champion in ONE SEASON feels! It's amazing, you just want to cry with joy, and i'm still bouncing off the walls, what a year!

The city was turned into a red hell for the devils last night, look at this picture!!!

    ITALIAN FOOTBALL IN CRISIS!! Seventythree10

We shall not speak of the blue half of the city, they have their moment of celebration, we have ours!!

As for the ENGLISH STUDENT study , perhaps now he will realise that the squad was right to warn him against Chelsea and the Premiership, at his age it would be better to stay with your friends and family and to keep winning this amazing cup, Biggrin But as they say in England, i would gladly have given 'a penny for his thoughts!!!'

Great game, and glad for ya Pirlo! Nesta was the MOTM for me, what a massive game he had!! Thats what I had written a while back, I rate class over form when it comes to choosing the best! Nesta will still be my top choice defender. When it really mattered, he carried the defence on his own, literally backed up for Janku, Maldini & Oddo the entire game!

As for Inter, nothing can spoil this season! We beat Milan in both derbies, and we broke all sorts fo records... good enuf for this season ok tho it would have been even better if Liverpool had won

I hear ya, mate... Actually I was hoping for another istanbul repeat once Kuyt scored... that would have been so much fun Wink

But Italian supremacy is good too, specially coz I live in london Wink

Yeah that's the point. The 7 speak for himself, imagine if Milan were able to arrange a display like Instabul-without-the-comeback.
As an Inter fan, I should have dig myself in a hole till september.
I'm so glad they won it (italian supremacy etc etc etc) without looking way too much shiny =)
