This notion of being 'smaller and weaker' is ridiculously over emphasised.

He plays for Spain and Valencia in the Champions League i think hes quite taken to 'rough' defenders in his time.

Its the pace of the premiership which breaks players, playing at high tempo commands high fitness levels and endurance in strength, not the weight lifting sort of strength.

Training with Ayala and Albelda, I am sure that Villa knows what being rough means Wink

Dont know how much they rough it out in the training but its about the attitude of the league , even in the bundesliga he owuld be just knocked off the ball rather then losing the ball over a tackle.
Villa doesnt convince me as somebody who would do well in England but loads of smaller players have done great in EPL like Zola so you never know.

heinze has not been good the last season, and don't think he is any improvement on riise or aurelio so would be a pointless buy

40,000 Newcastle fans turned up to see Owen, it was the biggest thing to happen to them, ever Wink. We celebrate success, they celebrate a signing. He might be unveiled in front of a few supporters, but I don't suppose he will be. I reckon they'll just do it in a press conference.

    4000th post Crazy Crazy Crazy

With the Torres deal in the bag, it shows us one thing; We're competitors now. We've never spent astronomical fees on players to rival Chelsea and United in the market, but now we have. It shows our ambition, and it also shows that we aren't poor, as the doubters liked to believe.

Some people questioned our new owners commitment to the club, and questioned their promise to back Rafa. They were wrong. This signing is a vote of confidence to the supporters and management alike. Who knows...Fernando Torres could prove to be a massive flop, but that doesn't displace the fact that the backing is still there. Our future is in safe hands, and soon we'll be title challengers again.

Players come and go. Unfortunately, Garcia left the club this week, but we have to get over that fact. Reading the quotes and articles, it seems he wanted to leave, and wasn't forced out or anything like that. Who are we to stand in the way of his wishes? He's been an excellent servant to the club, producing the goods when it really mattered, and we thank him for that, and wish him every success at his new club.

Hopefully the Torres signing will be the benchmark of what is to come, with many new players arriving to improve our squad. With Rafa at the helm, who knows where we will end up? Two champions league finals in three years tells us of the clubs potential, and if anyone disagrees with that, they are lying.

We are so close to becoming a top side again, and with an influx of new attacking players, and the hopeful return to form of some of our old ones, our ambitions should be in reach. The future is looking very bright.
