f@ck off we are just standing our ground. He forced us into selling him, in a perfect world he wouldnt have done all those stupid things and could stay a city player. Dead right - Barton's done everything but ask for a transfer. Saying that he wouldn't pay to watch the team (not to mention all the other Cr@p) means he has no right to be asking for loyalty payments now he's agreed to go to Newcastle.

Yeah the famous Willie McKay, who is hated by many managers and people in the game. Famous for causing trouble and upsetting players he is complete scum who is just in it for making money. I know many people who wont work with him they hate him that much.

PFA bid to end Barton switch row

The Professional Footballers' Association is to intervene in the row between Newcastle and Manchester City over Joey Barton's proposed transfer.

Magpies boss Sam Allardyce is furious that the £5.5m switch has stalled over a £300,000 contractual pay-off.

"I've spoken to City's chief executive Alistair Mackintosh, Joey and his agent and I intend talking to Sam," said PFA official Mick McGuire.

"We're looking for an amicable conclusion," he added.

Barton, 24, is contractually entitled to the pay-off if he leaves the club without requesting a transfer.

City are refusing to pay out because Barton was not forced to leave, a situation which Allardyce said had left him "flabbergasted."

"They're out of order. I'm flabbergasted and want the situation resolved," he said.

Allardyce is desperate to make Barton his first signing since taking over as Newcastle manager and get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

He said: "I cannot understand it because City didn't pay anything for this player as he came through the youth system and are selling him for over £5m.

"All I know is that this is a matter for Joey to sort out and I hope it is resolved as it has stopped him putting pen to paper."

West Ham also agreed a fee with City for the England midfielder but after meeting Newcastle officials last month, Barton decided to move to the North East.

Ah, that'd be right. Makes a lot more sense now, this ridiculous and stupid request for hundreds of thousands of pounds.
