look its not chelsea fault that our forgien billionaire isnt tight (not does he look like something from an irish circus) and we splash the cash. People give Roman so much grief but the bloke loves his footy and he is always at chelsea matches, unlike Little Malc the leprechaun, who took over manure simply with the desire to make a lot of money from impressionable americans and the chinese. Has the -clover- plucker even been to old trafford yet?

But it is our fault that we are a successful football team and business who didnt need any kind billionaire to save us from collapsing under the weight of our own debts (and subsequent relegation to mid table 1st devision mediocrity).
We cant help being good at both business and football rather than having to profit off one mans success at exploiting the ignorance of the workers in a post communist climate Russia .

Yes, most fans of clubs that have spent ridiculous ammounts of money and seen their club fall and fall even witht he spending have wished for a Roman like figure to save them. You are just another Leeds but you got lucky. What about when Roman gives up the spending?

Chelsea aren't self sustaining at the moment - if some thing happened to RA, assasination, prison etc - they would be fucked.

Re: Tevez to Man United
if he gives up the spending u mean.
i read somewhere that the bloke earns about 11million pounds a week. thats a hell of a lot of disposible cash and if ur a footy fan what better way to waste such obsene amounts of cash than on ur very own real-life version of foooty manager?
ask urself, would u get bored? i dont think i would...
and as for the idea of him just one day leaving and letting the club rot, its obsered. Why would he spend nearly a billion pounds on something and then just let it fall to bits?? it doesnt make sense. Leeds went bust cause they ignored the first rule of gambiling: only gamble with what you can afford! If Roman does earn £11M a week then this is just small change to him: like me or you buying a new carridge for our model train set (not that i do such things, its an example of a normal hobby) or putting a tenner on the grand national. 11M a week means that shevvers was roughly 19 days work for roman.... pocket money!

Chelsea were going bust like leeds untill Roman bought them (which is why he picked Chelsea). You dont understand how very rich people work; they want more and more money, they dont just continue to throw it away all the time. If Chelsea doesnt start to turn a proffit at some point he will move on.

yeah i know that chelsea were going bust before roman.
Hmmmm nice sweeping statement there Steveo but u could look at it like this: Roman has too much money and he is a little worried about Mr Putin wanting a big fat slice of it so he is wasting some of it on his favourite hobby. or this: he is a massive football fan, living out a childhood dream. or that he is simply bored and wants something to do!

now now poiuy, don't let personal hatred come into this.
Sadly, no matter how well we play, some will only say we're playing well 'cause of the money we have.
Although neither you (in the 90s) nor Liverpool (in the 80s) had anywhere near the equivalent of the money we have today, you were the richest teams of your eras and consequently were able to pay more than any other clubs, thus making you the better teams. Like I said, you didn't have the equivalent wealth to what we have today, but it proves that the richer clubs tend to dominate and get more support.
Indeed, you can spend all the money in the world, but if you can't gel a team together, it's money not well spent (look at Real Madrid, Inter Milan and to a lesser extent, you guys in the 21st century, pre-Abramovich/Mourinho). That's what I think is good about our club, the way we have gelled together so quickly, credit of course to Mourinho and his team (the staff), for achieving this.

Re: Tevez to Man United
Dress it up how you want would Mourinho have come if it was not for the money both in wages and transfer funds. No because Chelsea are a smaller club then Porto without Abramovich. Even if he had have come would he have been as succesful without the money, no because the English league is far more competative then the portuguese one and Chelsea have a very poor record of producing youth players.
So basically Chelsea's history starts from Abramovich, they are not a big club not a famous club but a plastic club, money can buy you succes but it can't buy you class

While this is true, the same can be said for nearly every dominant Italian side and RM; most top European teams are/were run at huge losses and propped up by the government or big sugar dadies like Chelsea are today. Nothing was quite as extreme (except maybe RM in the 50's with Franco) but its nothing new to the European game.
Also the charges at Liverpool and Man U are a little stupid because both teams earned their success, Man U used to be the second team in Manchester.

I'd say we had history before Abramovich.
D'you remember when we came to Old Trafford with all our 'nobodies' and beat you 3-0?

I forgot about the 5-0
It was all in 1 season I think (00-01?) maybe 01-02. We went to there's and won 3-0, they came back to ours and we won 5-0 (including a goal after 28 seconds from Poyet? Can't remember now, but it was a great game)
We also won 4-0 but that was in the very early Vialli days.
Not a bad team of nobodies really were we? I mean, we were never challenging for the title, but we won the FA Cup twice in 4 years, Euro Super Cup and Cup Winners Cup and were in the Champions League on a few occassions (indeed, we finished 4th the last season pre-Abramovich)

Good programme.
Its funny how they advertise it and the beginning -- shows Roman (Ancient Italy; not a Russian Oligarch Billionaire ex-Oil reserve owner) .. ruins being destroyed...
