Re: La Liga Jornada 36
So now you want Pep? Found this in MD:

True but it says a lot about your future manager that he holds Harry Kewell in such high esteem! I guess you do need a left winger to replace Ronaldinho.

Incredible. Espanol has pulled one of the biggest chokes I can remember in La Liga. I think in the whole second round this is the first time Atletico got two wins in a row, yet they're still fourth. Too bad Sevilla had such a bad start to the season. They would do much better than Patetico in the CL next year

Torrente I'm sure you are correct re our first season in the ECL for some time, BUT longer term we are defo a better bet than them with some continuity mangerially

Given Depo will have had an extra days rest right at the end of the season, i'm sure we were just trying to conserve as much energy as possible before Sunday's BIG game.

Dare I say it, but Kun looks out on his feet at times. He's about to complete his second season without any sort of rest/break - don't think he'd had any injury's either. He's obviously going to the Olympics too, so won't have a break this season either.
Much is made about Atleti's defensive woes, but another striker is needed too, just to allow a bit of rotation. Even someone like Negredo could possibly come in to be that player.

Re: La Liga Jornada 36
yeah i'm worried about these olympics the kid defo needs a rest. I'm surprised we haven't used maxi up front now and again to give him a rest.
We defo need a RB and a couple of CDs. A CM as we can't rely on Motta, and a striker.
Out for me Cleber, Ze Castro (the portuguese were right about him when we signed him), Mista.
Unfortuantely I can see us giving Reyes another year, and Luis Garcia.
Ideally any new signings will be Spanish as we need to boost this element as otherwise our ECL will be smaller than permitted.

Yeah, congrats on the win. I agree with you too, Atletico are the bigger club, easily, and in if they can re-consolidate them as the 3rd club in spain, the directors have the ambition and the fans are there for them to be a regular, CL participant and one that is very competitive. Even though it'd still be funny if you were relegated again.

Re: La Liga Jornada 36
this was in response to a comment on an atleti message baord but you'll get the drift on my thoughts
I know what your saying, I'm not so much celebrating, but IF we do make 4th I'll be extremely happy. This is progress, I'm convinced our sides of past years who have bottled it last night just as we did on the final day last season. Slowly Slowly catchy monkey. Our side has been badly managed from the top for far too long, and the 96 doble only papered over these cracks. We are defo making progress and IF we can re-qualify for the ECL next season having made the group stages, I will see this as progress too. I'd prefer to be patient and have something sustainable than see one great year followed by too many more mediocre years. Apart from Madriz and Farsa v few Spanish teams in recent years have been able to maintain a ECL and La Liga challenge in the same season, so that is a major challenge for us, as i said IF we are able to do this next season that his BIG progress. Why do the big 4 in England continue to perform v well in the Domestic league and ECL, simply v regular ECL football and all the money this provides. If we can manage this we'll be well on our way to challenging the other 2 for years to come both domestically and in Europe, as our support base is massive.
Aupa Atleti

Re: La Liga Jornada 36
No, I agree. Especially with Valencia floundering as they are you have a real chance - like I said before - to reestablish yourselves as the 3rd team in Spain. This summer is going to be really critical. You've got quality but you really need to bring in some more very good players and make shrewd buys. It's not going to help qualifying for CL and then next year finishing in Intertoto places.

Re: La Liga Jornada 36
That's a good post Frank.
I'd like to add that I think Sevilla, and Valencia, as well as Atleti are all perfect candidates for challenging Real and Barca. All have big support bases, talented players, and a 'reasonable' amount of money - at least compared to most other La Liga sides. I think Atleti are also building a new stadium, right? That will in the long run provide more revenue as well. I'd like to see these clubs get more consistency.
Others will of course mention Villarreal, but I'm not as convinced that they will sustain their recent success in future years, so I'll reserve judgment.

Yeah it's sad because La Liga could easily have 6 very strong teams that can all challenge for the title and reach the QFs of the CL regularly - Barça, Atletico, Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, and Depor. But unfortunately every season something goes wrong with 2 or 3 of these clubs.
(ok, I was kidding about Depor )
