For the short term, he would have made a really good signing for Man Utd and we came very close to signing him but instead we got Carrick and then Hargreaves.
A lot of money but I can't complain...

3 seasons running in the top 4 now Lrd!
That would be impressive if the league wasn't getting progressively worse.
better you mean?
half?
juve was only the real big team missing.
Nice try, but it's quite clear that your still very upset about what happened to your bum boy Cech in the Euro's. Best keeper in the world

How long do people think Senna can carry on at this level. He is almost 32 now, both for club and country.

Without opening a can of worms in the 'should he, shouldn't he be playing for Spain' argument, it may be a step in the right direction for some of the endemic racism in the country. Maybe not, but just a thought
Senna has some interesting views on racism

and his club has the toughest anti-racist policy around. About time Spain got some credit for it.
I wasn't aware of the previous black players.
And you're right it is interesting to hear that he hasn't experienced any racism in Spain, nor believes it to be a racist country. Maybe it is a genuine belief, maybe he feels he is in a position where he can't speak out?
At least Engonga was born in Spain, well, Cataluña , but I'm still not in favour of Brasilians playing for Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, Tunisia, Japan or wherever else they can get a passport. It's a bit ridiculous.

Pretty sure he genuinely believes it. He supports tough penalties for it and supports Eto'o. He's not an apologist. I think he's genuine. Not every black player in Spain gets racist abuse. Interesting that such a high profile player doesn't suffer it though. Also pathetic that most media refuse to cover Senna's views. Seems like maintaining the stereotype that Spain is racist is more important than the facts as expressed by the highest profile black Spanish player.

Engonga and Donato were club legends at Mallorca and Depor. I'm not sure about their standing in the national team though.
Catanha had a couple of good seasons for Malaga before we signed him. He only played three games though.

Great article about Senna...provides insight into his career and his personality, which is interesting reading since not many of us know much about him.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jun/29/euro2008.spain
Also contains a brief insight into why Aragones is generally a successful coach (something I also read elsewhere a few days back) - he may not be tactically brilliant, or very diplomatic or loved by fans, but he makes sure he's loved by the players and can really motivate them to play for each other.

Hope we buy him as a short term Flamini replacement till our youngsters develop but can't see Wenger doing it.

I think it is also worth noting that Senna has done a sterling job as a DM, despite it not actually being his true position or one he is even accustomed to at Villarreal
Great pro too

That would be great. But with Villarreal back in the Champions League next season it just won't happen.Hlebtastic wrote:Hope we buy him as a short term Flamini replacement till our youngsters develop but can't see Wenger doing it.
