    1.) Tim Krul - Newcastle

Arguably the best young Dutch goalkeeper in the Newcastle squad, Krul is up against the increasingly inconsistent Shay Given and the incredibly mediocre Steve Harper. 2009 may well be his year.

2.) Raphael da Silva - Man Chester

In the absence of Gary Neville, the only recognised right back in the United squad could get his fair share of appearances this season. He looks a lot like Kieron Richardson and Fergie is confident he will be just as good.

    3.) Gareth Bale - Tottenham

The 2006 BBC Wales Young Sports Personality of the Year will be looking to improve on a dissapointing first season at the Spurs, he looked promising when fit and if he can stay fit and show the form he did in patches last season he will be a major player in Spurs success.

    4.) Denilson - Arsenal

Tipped by many to be Fabregas' partner in the centre of Arsenal's midfield, Denilson will be hoping to improve on an inconstant 18 months in English football. Many will forget that he is only 20, but I haven't. He is only 20.

    5.) David Wheater - Middlesborough

Dave Wheat-Phillips, as he is sometimes referred to, is the best of a very bad bunch of Boro youngsters. No one can deny that he is very tall.

    6.) Steven Taylor - Newcastle

Not really a youngster, but surely one to watch. Although only 22 Taylor seems to have been around for years. Maybe this season he will improve.

7.) Giovanni dos Santos - Tottenham

The new Ronaldo? The new Messi? The new Lennon? One thing for sure, if there's a manager who can bring the best out of the young Mexican, it's Arsene Wenger.

    8.) Michael Johnson - Manchester

Michael Johnson is fucking awesome. Fact.

    9.) Nicklas Bendtner - Arsenal

Probably a make or break season for Niklas. If he has a poor season he'll be off to Birmingham, if he has a good season he'll be off to Barcelona. Good luck Nicklas and thanks for all the fish.

    10.) Krisztian Nemeth - Liverpool

The latest prodigy from the never ending conveyor belt that is new look Liverpool youth system . Nemeth is already favourite for Young Player of the Year, it's just a question of whether he can add the WPOTY award to his collection.

    11.) Theo Wallchart - Arsenal

At 19 Theo is one of the more experienced members of the current Arsenal squad, and his versatility should mean he will get plenty of time on the pitch. If he is on the pitch and plays well then that will be marvelous.

    and...........

    my seven subs

S1) Fabio da Silva - Man Chester

It's a fact some may say he's not as good as his brother, the Phil of the da Silva brothers. It's also a fact that some people are liars. Coincidence? If nothing else Fabio will push his brother all the way in the club Kieron Richardson lookalike competitions.

    S2) Michael Richards - Manchester

The shamed former Seinfeld star is now a part of the furniture in the Manchester defense. As England manager Fabio Capello looks towards the World Cup qualifiers can the youngster convince Fabio that he is a sofa, and not a folding camp bed?

    S3) Carlos Vela - Arsenal

He's big, he's red, his feet stick out the bed, Carlos Vela. Arsenal fans are already convinced he is the real deal. Whatever happens this season, he is certain to disappoint me.

    S4) Tom Huddlestone - Tottenham

Sexy hunk of man meat Tom has spent the summer in the gym, I bet his abs are awesome. Under all that fat. If Spurs do, as is predicted, end up playing with 2 holding midfielders then Tom may prove to Man Chester fans what the rest of us already know; that Huddlestone >> Carrick.

    S5) Damian Plessis - Liverpool

He's the new Momo Sissoko. Momo Sissoko was $h!t, but he's new.

    S6) Kelvin Etuhu - Manchester

I've only seen this guy once, and for 20 minutes, against an amateur side. But he looked pretty good.

    S7) Jo - Manchester

Oooh! Manchester signed Jo! Oooh! Who?
    He's probably really good.

79% success rate, and if not for injuries for Johnson, Fabio, Plessis and Nemeth it would be into the 90's.

Accurate in the sense that it listed a bunch of young players who'd already made it + Rafu, Faberto Carlos and a couple of Pool players who were not available to watch last season.

Impressive would've been calling Macheda to be decisive in the title race ok
