What did Scholes do?

An awful result for Portsmouth from Newcastle's perspective. They are obviously not out of the relegation battle, but they're three points ahead of us now, they do have some decent players, and I don't think their fixture list looks bad; my feeling is that Sunderland and Blackburn probably have enough to beat the drop - Sunderland just about have the players and they seem fairly settled as a team, whilst Allardyce is in his element with Blackburn; that would leave us, Stoke, Boro and maybe one from Hull and Bolton to fight it out, aiming to avoid relegation. I just have no faith in our ability to win games.

With Portsmouth's result, and given that Stoke and Boro are playing one another, we will be in the bottom three this evening if we don't get anything against Arsenal. The suggestion is that we will play a 4-5-1, with Oba up front and Owen on the bench - a set-up similar to the one we utilised against Man Utd a few weeks ago.

Perhaps this year will be their year!!
