Post by Di Caniooooo! Sun Apr 12, 2009 3:54 pm

Former Tottenham, Norwich and West Ham striker Jimmy Neighbour has died suddenly at the age of 58.

Neighbour, who played in Spurs' 1971 League Cup-winning side, suffered a heart attack at home while recovering from a hip replacement operation.

Neighbour was on Tottenham's books from 1966 to 1976 and returned to the club in 2000 as coach of the under-17 side.

He also represented Seattle Sounders and played the last of his 304 Football League games on loan at Bournemouth.

He made his debut for Spurs against Stoke in October 1970 and playing his final game for the Cherries against Wrexham in 1983.

Before rejoining Tottenham he spent four years as a coach at Enfield, helping them win the FA Trophy in 1988.

He was also youth development officer at West Ham, assistant manager at Doncaster and boss at St Albans.

And a good 10 minutes of footage of 16 year old Spurs fans singing songs about someone they won't even remember...

There was a lot of YNWA on MOTD last night. The minute's silence I can understand but the BBC coverage tried to turn it into an official Liverpool FC event.

As to your constant baiting - have another go.

There was a lot of YAWN on what should have been the most exciting MOTD of the season last night. The minute's silence I CANT understand and the BBC coverage tried to turn it into an official Liverpool FC event.

The attention you and yours pay me is flattering, but I don't really get why and how you've constructed your view of me. If you've got nothing more important to do, perhaps you could explain it to me.

Do you really want to get into this Saints ? I'm not sure what it will achieve as I think you should already be aware of the reasons

Anyway my dinner is currently more important so if Glenn doesn't oblige with your request then I will once I'm fed

Not particularly but you keep bringing it up. And I don't mean that in a highschool playground I can only remember the last 48 hours sense, I mean you've said this sort of thing on lots of occasions.

I'm not sure what it will achieve as I think you should already be aware of the reasons

You seem to have a need to talk about me, I honestly don't know why that is.

Anyway my dinner is currently more important so if Glenn doesn't oblige with your request then I will once I'm fed

What's Glenn got to do with it? I asked you.

COTR is a very shallow person that is a bit empty inside, buying Hugo Boss clothes wont change that. Now, even Liverpool wont fill his emptiness but attacking Saints on a forum will!!

But you were still able to type that dross.

Anyway, I think Saints is more than entitled to any views he may have and anyone is more than entitled to attack these views. If, and only if, his defence on these views appears to legitimise an attack on him, should such behaviour take place. This goading is rather uneccesary.

    Theres my two cents.

If we're strictly adhering to the rules of reasonable debate, it is only if a person makes himself part of the argument (appeals to his own authority, for example) that the person then becomes a legitimate and relevant target in the debate.

Otherwise, all personal attacks are ad hominem (against the man), not against the view or argument being put forth, and hence are fallacious.

However, a more sophisticated way of looking at it is that only the aspect of themselves that a person makes part of the argument (e.g. them having seen something first-hand) should be attacked. If I claim to have spoken to the man who really shot JFK whether or not I cheat on my wife has no bearing, so an attack on me as characteristically a liar due to my infidelity is not, logically speaking, relevant to whether I've actually spoken to the man who really shot JFK.

Obviously I realise that this place and its membership are pretty far from adhering to the rules of reasonable debate. I'm just outlining what is and isn't considered fair play.
