Hodgson on Jamie Redknapp...

...Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has slammed pundit Jamie Redknapp for his attack on Chelsea ref Tom Henning Ovrebo.

Redknapp said Ovrebo was out of his depth because he was from Norway.

Fulham boss Hodgson, said: “Do people want to go down the Jamie Redknapp route — that only England, Italy and Spain count and everywhere else is no good?”

Chelsea went out of the Champions League with a 1-1 draw, having had four penalty appeals rejected by Ovrebo who has since received death threats.

And TV pundit Redknapp said: “How many big games has he reffed in Norway? I don’t know why we can’t have the best ref from Germany or Italy.

“I don’t think someone from Norway should be reffing a game with the intensity of this one.”

Hodgson, who has worked extensively in Scandanavia, hit back.

He said: “Are we going to say, ‘You’re from Spain, you might be OK but the rest of you, Switzerland, France, Poland, Russia, Austria, Ukraine, Slovenia, Serbia, can go f*** yourselves because you don’t count?’ It’s nonsense.”

I saw Hodgson do an interview in Norwegian. Obviously I've no idea how fluent he really is but he sounded like he was, quite impressive.

Littbarski's Japanese is quite good too btw.

Its no suprise that one of the best English managers at the mo is one who has been open minded to enough to go abroad and work in various other countries.

Always rated Roy Hodgson as a coach. I KNEW he was gonna do a very good job with what he had at Fulham. Looks like he's even a better person.

The introduction of sheringham to mainstream telly has meant Redknapp is no longer the worst person on our TV. Only the third worst. Pleat obviously takes the number one spot.

It'll be interesting to see if Sky just completely ignore this tomorrow. It would be great seeing Redknapp getting himself flustered trying to weasel his way out of the comments

Pleat is hilarious to me, he still knows a bit, but is clearly going senile. He's fine & inoffensive, probably the best person of the ITV lot IMO.

Townsend, Beglin, Drury & Tyldsley all deserve horrible fates once they hang up their mics. That's without getting onto Jonathan Pearce, Gray, Souness & Lawro.

It's hard to think of a commentator or pundit on any British TV channel who isn't a bit of a twat.

I did several times. Roy put Finland on the football map. He's a very good coach, and I've acknowledged that many times. I think COTR, LRD, you or some other c**t was having a discussion with me regarding Harry Redknapp at Spurs, and I said that he's just a fireman coach. That he wasn't gonna beat the Benitez, Fergusons, Wengers, Scolaris, Moyes, O'Neills, Hodgsons of the league what so ever. True story Kimbo bro, many times true story.

Wasn't the board consensus on Redknapp that he wasn't the coach to take Spurs to the top, so that's hardly a stand out opinion. And given the performance of Scolari with Chelsea, the poor performances by Everton for Moyes in Europe and O'Neils general averageness recently you could quite happilly make a case that Redknapp's no worse than them even if he isn't top class...
