one of the best right backs in the Premiership last season.

can't think of too many better, proven players not already at a big club in that position. I was desperate for Liverpool to sign him in January.

I can think of atleast one and he already plays for Chelsea.

if Chelsea don't go in for him and he joins Liverpool then one of Chelsea's main title rivals is strengthened

or

Chelsea do go in for him and he joins Liverpool then Liverpool spend twice as much as they would have liked to, thus weakening their spending on other areas of the team

Geremi wasnt really a right back anyway. He was a better winger than right back.

Ivanovic is a central defender really. I still think they can recoup the money on that one. Surprised we haven't made a bid for him actually. Think he's a massively underrated player.

I think he's a class act in a position where good players are decreasing.

But honestly, are people forgetting that up until the last 3 games or so of the season, Arbeloa has been consistently good at right back for us? I think he's sound defensively, he has a very good cross on him at times and you can see he has the passion to play for us. If we're going to spend over 10 million on a player then it shouldn't be on a defender IMO. A back up right back would be nice for sure unless Rafa keeps faith in Degen or gives a youngster a chance there.

No one asked about Liverpool luis.
