Well, not surprisingly Sevilla have sacked Manolo Jimenez. Elimination from the CL and a bad run in the league was too much for Del Nido. Just looking at the league standings...if Barcelona and Real Madrid win midweek, Sevilla will be 26 pts off the pace. That really is unexcusable for the team that Sevilla have put together.

Saw around 35-40 mins of the game last night...Sporting are a handy side, with some decent players in attack like Bilic and De Las Cuevas. Also get the feeling that Gregory is arguably more important than Botia as the leader of their defense. Only 600k euros or something from the Portuguese league I heard. Good buy ok

I was never really convinced by Aragones so it will be interesting to see what he does with this team. Despite the fact that im not a big fan of Jimenez I wouldn't have fired him unless there were some problems in the dressing room. They should have waited until summer because they aren't exactly in free fall and I still expected them to get 4th place.

They aren't in free fall, but he was already under pressure and some of the recent results are shocking: 1-2 at home against CSKA, 1-1 at home against Xerez, etc. I think the firing was inevitable.

4th is not a given either...Mallorca still aren't showing signs of fading away (although funnily enough it's Sevilla who are one of the few sides that won in Mallorca).

No I think those were the three names that Monchi came up with and in the end the directors settled on Aragones.
