It really is since he is used to playing the role on the left cutting in. Of course it might be a problem when Modric comes back but if he is willing to sit on the bench then you even have a sub for Modric.

Exactly. Surely he knows that once Modric comes back there won't be room for the both of them in the team.

But if we do well in the cups this season, we'll be using our squad splayers regularly anyway.

Plus he gets to hang out with his Croatian bros.

The fact that we bought a Croation international for 2million really is astonishing- should he fill in well for Modric and then want to leave next summer, we'll undoubtedly get more than 2million for him.

Great business from Levy the Jew. for a change Ale

Im sure he does know he'll be on the bench...but where would you rather be?

Starting for Spurs for a while, top of the table challenging for the title..then sitting on the bench/coming on as sub eventually winning the title. Or starting every game and getting relegated with Pompy?

Easy decision. Especially given that he'll be on Jew money now.

First post since losing to United at home. Still relatively disgusted about the whole thing.

It's the HOPE that going 1-0 up in the first 45 seconds that can do that to a man.

We lost to the better side, but it was the capitulation that infuriates.

Surely not even the loss of Modric should be enough to not only lose, but to a side with 10 men for most of the second half.

Typical Spurs. we also concede to a man who hasn scored once in 2 years (Anderson) and a 35 year old who hasn't taken regular free kicks for United in 5.

    Fuck our naivety.

Fair play United, we got shown why we're nowhere near a top 4 side yet.

Perhaps a reality check will do us good.

Still, it's a bitter pill to swallow. To lose 3-1 at home to anyone stings.

I think you are somewhat over negative to an extent.

People knock all the players at United especially midfield...but just 'cos Anderson hasn't had the best time of it, it doesn't make him an average player. He cost 20 mill and he was one of the highest rated youngsters out there. Giggs and Scholes on their day are still as good as anyone.

It was a great game and Spurs played their part. For excuses/reasons stuff to be hopeful about. Lennon was clearly knackered. Palacious came back from Honduras? and maybe was also somewhat fatigued. And Modric was out. Not to mention last year we lost to Pool 1-4 but we're clearly a better team than them also. One result doesn't say it all.

Clearly Spurs are not up there with Man Utd but top 4 is still possible. 5 games 4 wins having played Man Utd and Liverpool is a great start.

But i must say that's how you deal with a bad decision. Spurs crumbled and blamed a penalty decision for FIVE damn goals last year. Scholes got sent off for a really harsh yellow but the team responded by playing even better. Ale

    Couldn't agree with you more.

Total credit to United in how they responded to the sending off. It was us who were holding on at the end.

This is what the confidence in really believing you are "the best" can do to you. Our players/club/fans just don't have that belief, and it shows.

I don't want to look at excuses, we were simply beaten by the better and more confident side.

Despite having won 4 on the trot, we still looked like we were scared of United, which is the worry. Perhaps the loss of Modric affected the players more than they ever gave on, but that in itself is a sad indictment.

As for your midfield - the way Arsenal dominated that area of the park the other weekend gave me false hope. I should have known better than to have thought they'd play that badly twice in a row.

If we can finish 5th this season, that would be fantastic.

But with Man City seriously in the mix, a 6th place finish is more realistic.

Won't be enough to hold onto the likes of Modric though.

Let's hope we MIGHT have learnt a lesson from this weekend - we can't go full on head to head against a side like United by playing so naively.

Yes it was entertaining end to end stuff, but if we want to break the top 4,

we need to play tighter and be more BORING

It was a good game to watch midfield did make the difference the ability of United to get up and down the park specially by Fletcher and Anderson to an extent in the middle and there nicer passing made them function to a higher level than Spurs. If Huddlestone could get up and down the park like Fletcher Spurs would look much better in the middle. Palacious was most likely tired as Lrd mentioned this only added to losing the middle ground more.

He looks thinner for a big guy taking off another 14 pounds if his body would allow it could make it a lot easier moving that big frame around over 90 minutes and should make a difference.
