New England vs Crew 2-2, all four were odd goals. deflection, miss clearance , mistake from keeper and bad defending

And they were very tired towards the end of the match. Beckham will improve all of these areas, but they have to use him cleverly. Otherwise opposition teams will just double up on Beckham knowing the rest of the team lacks quality, and it won't have any effect.
not only can he cross it in , but beckham is also tireless. he runs the entire game in spain , so i bet he can handle running the entire game for MLS. also the corners were god awful, those will help out also.

Quite well actually, looks like Bruce Arena is doing a good job and the players are performing. Waterreus and the defence with 3 clean sheets so far, and Angel will help the goals to flow at the other end.
MLS results:
NY 1-0 Houston
Chicago 2-1 Kansas City
Chivas USA 4-0 Real Salt Lake
Dallas 3-1 Colorado

They also have Clint Mathis, who I think is an international for USA. He missed a penalty and got sent off within 35 mins in the weekend's match though.

Re: MLS Thread
TorontoFC...not enough Portuguese kids in the squad. I thought there'd be a bunch of Italians, Latin Americans and Portuguese guys as the base of this 'club' but looks like that's not the case.
Of course they have to go for experience, but considering the team is from Tonroto, you'd think these groups would be more represented.
Hard to like this kind of football as it's so artificial. Damn club looks just like Benfica too, so that's not helping.
Nice enough crest, stupid fake turf field though.

Re: MLS Thread
Ronald Waterreus has just set the record for the best start to an MLS season by a goalkeeper. ie. no goals conceded for the longest time. It's now 3 clean sheets plus the 6 odd minutes in this match so far.
btw, Dutchies, how is his last name pronounced? The American commentators say Waterr-"oos". Is that correct, or should it be Wate-"ray-oos" or Water-"rews"?

Final score 1-0 to NY. They were really good, Dallas never got in the game. Reyna is a class above, his passing is excellent and he's always dropping deep to help out his defence.

Good player for us.kas wrote:Another interesting fact: FC Dallas' coach is ex-Arsenal player Steve Morrow.
He will always be remembered for the incident after our Littlewoods Cup (Carling Cup) truimph. When the final whistle blew there were the obvious celebrations between players. Tony Adams picked up Morrow put dropped him, leaving him with a broken shoulder.

Water-rews. I really suck in these pronouncation things to another languance really.
You don't know how the "eu" sounds so difficult to explain.
I heard vdBerg made the final assist against Dallas.

Re: MLS Thread
I don't really know who the favourites are, because so many of the teams have changed their lineups over the off-season that you can't really predict. In that sense it's kind of like other American sports.
On current form, and based on the match I watched of them beating Dallas, NY Red Bull definitely look good. If Angel settles they'll have a real focal point up front.
Of course when Beckham comes in he could have an impact on LA Galaxy, though I doubt it can be enough to make them win the title because their team isn't that great.
As for most attacking, based on the 3-4 matches i've watched so far, they're all equally slow and dull

Not yet, it'll probably be a while because he's still only on a tourist visa. So until the US government gives him a work visa he can't play for them. Given his nationality (he's Colombian, isn't he?) that could even take a month or more.

Re: MLS Thread
I've watched 2 full matches so far, but I've always kept myself busy with something else because otherwise I'd fall asleep.
I hate all the stuff on TV here, just a bunch of junk that pollutes your mind. I actually feel stupid-er after watching TV for any length of time.
So if there's no decent movies on I'll settle for any football. A lot of the time I get lucky and there's some Copa Libertadores match. But sometimes I have to stick with MLS.
