La Liga Jornada 35 Empty La Liga Jornada 35

Post by fcb Sat May 19, 2007 4:39 pm

After Holland and Germany, Spain looks like being the next major league in Europe to have a heart-attack finish to the season. Another great set of matches this weekend, with Madrid away to Recreativo and Barcelona playing our "bestia negra" in Atletico Madrid (one encouraging piece of news is that their first choice keeper Leo Franco is out injured).

And can Valencia surprise everyone or will Mallorca's home form be too much to overcome?

What about Sevilla, will the UEFA Cup hangover affect them?

Also a huge match in the relegation battle, with La Real hosting Celta.

    Saturday:
    Betis-Nastic
    Mallorca-Valencia
    Zaragoza-Athletic

    Sunday:
    Espanyol-Getafe
    Sociedad-Celta
    Levante-Osasuna
    Villarreal-Racing
    Deportivo-Sevilla
    Recreativo-Madrid

    Vamos........

Both Valencia and Mallorca with close calls. Joaquin had a shot saved and then Canizares did his stuff at the other end.

Tense match. Really need a goal!

Jankovic hit the crossbar! Amazing to watch Mallorca's transformation into a good side over the past few weeks...Valencia really need to pull off the win here if they want to really put pressure on Madrid and Barça.

Drama in the other match as well - ref awarded Nastic a penalty, and Ilic of Betis got a yellow card, while Vogel got sent off (I assume 2nd yellow) both for protesting.

Can Nastic score a crucial goal?

Agooner, are you referring to that backheel on the turn or the initial pass? If it's the former, it was actually by Jorge Lopez, not Villa. Still a super assist though ok

Correct! López no look backheel pass while turning was almost as good as Peruvian great César Cueto. Not quite as good, but still a gem. <Ale>

Final whistle, Valencia overtake Sevilla and move to just 1 point behind Madrid and Barcelona. If there was any doubt remaining about their title challenge, it's now gone (I speak for myself) because Los Ches are certainly in it to win it.

Final score 1-1 in the other match. Zaragoza-Athletic up next.

Mallorca had 7 wins in a row! Awesome form. But then there is...

    Joaquin!!!!!!!
    Valencia!!!!!!!

For the second 45 they played well but I had the gut feeling that their chances would end tonight! But then the form man steps up!!!

Within one point of Madrid and Barca! It could happen! Tomorrow night is going to be so interesting. Two home wins and therefore losses for the top 2 - and I think this is Valencia's title and I am in the money! Vamos Los Che.

Kas, you know what, Valencia have a better head to head record vs us this season (won 2 - 1 and drew 1 - 1) pale, though not against Madrid or Sevilla.

What a gift from the 'keeper and the defender "covering" him. And Diogo just scored the second one.
