Chelsea buy Brazilian wonderkid Pato for 25 million!!!

It seems you will spend some cash after all. Great buys though.

Personally I'm disappointed. He's only 17 and even though Chelsea will only get him in January (according to the article above) and also probably have to loan him out for a couple of years till he can get a work permit, I think it would have been better for him to go to a proper footballing side, or at least a medium team in Spain to learn the European game. Not only is he getting thrust into the Premiership, it's at one of the worst clubs for strikers, considering only Drogba the Hitman succeeds under Mourinho. Plus the price tag will be a huge burden.

But seriously i argee with you this is a mad move for the kid he should have stayed in brazil for one more season and then go to a team with a tradition for dealing with young prospects (Ajax and PSV come to mind) before he making the jump to the big times, but by the sounds of things he is such a great talent that he may go their and do very well.

Maybe Chelsea will do the same as with Alex, and give Pato to PSV or something.

What exactly do you mean by this?

Last time I checked, Chelsea were a proper footballing side - in two years time, it is also unlikely that Mourinho will be there so its perfectly feasible that they'll play bright and attacking football ( )

You know what i mean...if Brazilians struggle at Man. Utd., imagine what will happen to them at Chelsea, esp. a young player like Pato.

But you say yourself that he probably will go out on loan for a couple of seasons - and by then I doubt Mourinho will be their manager

I know, but it was a lot of ifs and buts. And who knows, Mourinho may well stay. Things change quickly in football.

I have to admit that until a few months ago I hadn't even heard of him - certainly haven't seen any footage! For 25m he sounds pretty amazing!

Euros - I don't know much Portugese but Im' guessing the bit in the article after the price that says euros probably translates as 'euros'

FFS it was one! Who was injury prone at that. Don't use the term "brazillians" to mean just 1. It's as annoying as man utd fans I encounter who don't want to sign south americans based on Forlan, Veron and Kleberson.

According to todo, he is the biggest talent in Brasil at the moment, but said he's not been great this season (along with his team)

Apparently he is similar to Kaka in style (graceful, great technique etc), but he plays as an SS. Don't know much else.

Big mistake by Chelsea, they bought the wrong player, should have gone for Willian from Corinthians.

Weren't Liverpool allegedly buying him as well as Lucas?

The only thing they'll be playing on a regular basis is hide and seek in the dugout.

You don't have to have a degree in applied bollocks to know that he hasn't signed for us. If he had done, it would be on our website, the BBC's website, Sky Sports, SSN website etc.

All we have so far is this one Brazillian article.

As for the money, 25 million Euros will be OK (about the same United paid for both Anderson and Nani). I very much doubt it's £25million (which would be our 2nd highest ever transfer) for a player who's 17 and unproven as far as the Prem is concerned.

The problems Ronaldinho (and his brother) cause every summer with the whole "I want a new contract or I'm off" business.

At Chelsea you won't have that problem as you can pay him whatever he wants.
