Bolton want Cisse! Empty Bolton want Cisse!

Post by Guest Fri Jun 22, 2007 11:46 am

Bolton's interest in Djibril Cisse has been confirmed by the Liverpool striker's agent Ranko Stojic.

Talk about a possible bid for the France international from Bolton has intensified recently and Stojic has revealed he has been in contact with Sammy Lee.

Cisse spent last season on loan at Marseille, who are keen to keep the former Auxerre front man at the Stade Velodrome for another season.

But Bolton have now emerged as potential rivals for his signature and Stojic is planning to discuss the 25-year-old's future with Liverpool next week.

The Reds are unlikely to be open to letting Cisse go out on loan again and reports suggest the Frenchman will cost in the region of £5million.

"It is true that there has been some contact with Bolton," Stojic told the Manchester Evening News.

"I have met up with Sammy Lee on one occasion. He impressed me, not just as a coach, but as a person.

"He is a fantastic man. We are meeting Liverpool next week to find out what they want to do."

Despite Stojic's admission, Marseille chairman Pape Diouf remains confident of reaching a deal to sign Cisse in the next few days.

"About Djibril Cisse, the negotiations should be finished early next week," Diouf said in L'Equipe.

"We would prefer a loan but Liverpool want a definitive transfer.

"We are in talks about a transfer fee inferior to €12million (£8m). I have a lot of hope."

It'd be a good deal, and what with Lee having strong Liverpool connections, I'd be hopeful of a deal being done.

But I'm pretty sure he'd turn us done if Marseille were involved, which they are.

If we git in Cissé and Kanouté, look at this insane formation:

    ----------------Jussi

    ---------Diagne Faye-Meité--Cid

    ----------------Nolan-

    ----Diouf--------Anelka---------Gardner

    -----------Kanouté----Cissé

Bench: O'Brien, Teymourian, Dzemaili, Guthrie, Davies

That would be awesome, bar Nolan.

    Buy Seydou keita as well.

That's what's wrong with football today. You have possibly the most devastating ever attacking formation, and you think about defence.

All we'd have to do is pass it to Anelka, he'd do the rest; PLus Gardner and Diouf are actually midfielders. So it's a
    3-3-1-3!

    Tactical innovation.

A tad attacking ain't it? Even if you swap Nolan with Essien, you would still get over-ran in midfield.....

Hey we all long for the days when just 1 box to box midfielder was required for central midfield and everyone else in front of him could bomb forward with reckless abandon. Those days are gone.

Anelka will hardly get the ball because Nolen(Keite) will be snuffed out of the game. Plus you're really overrating Anelka here. Good control, ability to get round a couple of players yes, but I don't see the vision needed to run that team and bring everyone else into play.

Gerdener might offer you some work rate, diouf on the other side is neglible so I still stand by the fact that Nolan would be destroyed if he was there on his own. To make it worse his passing isn't all that good.

but that's one of the beautiful things about football: the balance between attack and defence. granted it's too often shifted towards defence by fearful managers and it'd be nice if teams were more attack-minded, but even so you can't just ignore defence.

having said that i have a bizarre 3cb-2dm-3am-2st formation on football manager which seems to work lovely, except for constantly getting raped down the wings! makes for high scoring games

But our midfield gets overrun nowadays. Most games we have 40 percent possession. At least with that attack we might cause some serious damage.

No, but Speed is 37, and has got a coaching job now, and Campo was abysmal in the latter stages of the season. I'm not against playing one over 34 player in midfield. PLaying two is suicidal.
