ITV team of the week... Empty ITV team of the week...

    Post by S4P Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:53 pm

    GK: Sorensen
    RB: Wes Brown
    CB: Morgan
    CB: Terry
    LB: Bridge
    RW: Ronaldo
    CM: Essien
    CM: Campo
    LW: Bowyer
    ST: Kanu
    ST: Rooney

Looks fairly good to me, based on the weekend games.

    Anyone else agree?

Terry and Brown had next to bugger all to do though. If they're there why not Carvalho, or Evra - he was just as productive going forward as Bridge, for example.

I don't know... I just think the defenders should have actually had to do some defending to be in there.

Didnt see enough of the chelsea game. But evra very unlucky not to be in there. Brown maybe lucky to be there, did well at rb but was only there 45 minutes. the rest looks good.

Bridge had an absolutely excellent game.

Terry scored and on a weekend where perhaps CB's didn't play there best, he dealt with everything comfortably, as did Ricky Carvalho. The only difference is that Terry scored.

I didn't see Man Utd match, so I can't say about Brown.

For right back i thought Micah Richards had a great game vs Chelsea and at left back Fortune was outstanding for Bolton.

Like I say, I didn't see your game (only the highlights on MOTD2), but he'd have had to go some to outperform Bridge, who along with Lampard and Essien, was our best player imo.

    @ sgoater

    Ale how old is Richards?

He wasnt terrible imo, he made just one mistake and tbh although it resulted in a goal it was a bit of a difficult header under pressure. The rest of the game he looked fine, a few misplaced passes but his positioning was good and defended pretty well.

Good point on the Terry goal. If you haven't had to do much but still handle everything compitently and bag a goal you've done well I think.

Love seeing a CB bagging a goal off a set-piece.

i don't know prehaps terrible was a bit of a strong word but he kept giving away the ball going to hard into tackles giving away stupid fouls and getting caught up the pitch. I'm not criticising him or anything it's just he had a bit of a shocker i'll shut up now

He'll score 4 or 5 more Prem goals this season too, as well as making very few errors I'm sure.

No mate your allowed your opinion and fair enough if you think he wasnt the best, i just didnt think he was terrible from what i saw of the game. Still he is only 18 and will improve with experiance.

of course he's still a great prospect to be a full international,

I think like the full England team the U-21's were guilty of underestimating their opponents

Carvalho should get a couple as well I would think. He hasn't been as regular as Terry with the goals, but he doesn't lack the ability.

Brown defended well and then when switched to right back got up and down the wing and provided a great ball for Rooney to score.

    True.

I watched both games and i thought richards was more impressive than brown. I was closely looking at him because we were linked with him a while ago. He is very strong, comfortable on the ball, quick and is very difficult to beat on one vs one, i observed that since last year when he played against henry. Can he play in other positions aswell?

I saw enough to see how utterly incompotent Fulham were. I don't know, I just think a defender should be in there for actually defending - even if he is offering something different to the attack.

Bromby was superb on Saturday (better than Morgan), not sure why he isn't in there.

How in the world Eboue didn't get in at right back is beyond me, he was more like a right forward the amount of times he got forward and posed danger for Arsenal.
