Team of the week – Chelsea
Player of the week – Lampard

For those who have ridiculed Lampard as a donkey that Jose made him to be, we were made to eat humble pie on Saturday. Lampard never made any Hollywood passes, he never tried to get a deflection, he was a proper playmaker. He dictated the flow of the game, made good counter attack runs, made great defence-splitting passes, and for once didn’t think about himself.

Before this game, I always thought Chelseas should push Mikel forward just behind Drogba and he would be able to dictate the game. But forget it, if Lampard plays like that every game from now then he will be up there with Elano and Fabregas.

Well I should mention that for once in 4 seasons, Chelsea played the football that only Arsenal has played so far this season. If they play like they did then Schevchenko will be back banging them. Schevchenko did more in that 15 minutes that he has ever did the whole of last season.

Chelsea is not out of the league chase, and they are still favourites to win the champs league.

If I was Jose, then I would wish I left after my last league title. He should be embarrassed that he failed to make Chelsea play good football in three season, while it took Avram 5 games to win in style.

I haven't once criticised the appointment of Avram on here, those who said we'd never heard of him, look at his track record, etc. have short memories, wenger was largely unknown in the UK when appointed, and whilst his CV was better than Grant's it wasn't exactly brilliant, but he has been reasonable successful at Arsenal. Grant still has a lot to do to prove his appointment the correct one, but he needs time, and they had a good squad already, but if they are allowed to play positively by the manager as they did on saturday, this wont be the last time they wallop somebody

I didn't see the game, just the highlights. To be honest, no left back stood out, so him not playing probably was better than any of the other options ok

He made two world class saves, but for the penalty save, I'm still tempted to go for Green. Both did more than Cech though

i didn't count friedels but i'd guess he made 4-5 top saves, and the pen my grandmother could have saved, its that which is swaying peoples view. and the fact nobody saw the full spuds match. i saw all the 1st half and he was superb. although green did do well, certainly both way ahead of cech

ok That idiot Garth Crooks probably watched the highlights and saw the save by Cech. It was an excellent save, but he had to do f@ck all for the rest of the match (bearing in mind that the save I am talking about happened after about 10 minutes).

Also Gerrard lol! Liverpool's midfield was pissed on at times yesterday (especially after Alonso got injured).

You seem to think that a penalty that isn't hit the best is easily saved...if the keeper goes the wrong way it's in.

Green also made top saves from Benjani, Mendes and Kranjcar.

that was an easy save once he went the right way, whilst i wouldn't suggest going the right way is all luck there is an element of it, whereas friedel didn't need any luck, imho whilst green clearly played v well, brad gave a better all round performance, and unlike many i did at least get to see the entire 1st half

I think there is still a problem with putting Lampard in a 2 man CM when he rarely plays there and when he does for England he plays $h!t. My team:
