Like I said earlier: Get rid of the Gold Cup, and start a new Copa America for both North and South America, with 16 teams qualifying for it. This will solve the problem, and most probably improve the importance and image of the competition.

    exactly

the whole process of the Copa America is weird anyway, I mean, "inviting" countries into your confederation's tournement is just utterly bizzare. Japan even played in the Copa once :shock , although of course with Mexico and the USA playing it doesn't quite look so alien.

The Gold Cup is a waste of time too. It always ends up with a final between Mexico and the USA who are streets ahead of any of the other nations in that confederation

Is it a good match so far, would it be worth watching? The last matches by Brazil were pretty dull...

It's not a bad game so far. Both sides are creating a couple of chances and Brazil very nearly scored just now. There isn't much free flowing football but I've seen worse and it's worth watching in my opinion.

Who was the Brazilian player playing forward on the left side...he was terrible in that 1st half, always lost the ball when he got it from Gilberto the left-back. I wasn't watching too carefully, but I think it was Baptista, wasn't it?

Penalty for Brazil after Robinho goes down. The defender held Robinho but there was very little contact and Robinho went down very easily.

Robinho scores the penalty, but it was a weak penalty again. The goalkeeper should probably have saved it.

Surely there's a better penalty taker than Robinho among those 11 players out there? That was an pathetic penalty again - they could pay dearly if he ends up missing one in the knockout stages.

i dont get why he takes. i dont remember seeing him take any for us. he seems to be quite bad at them. allthough i gues if he just gets them in there isnt much to say.

I would suggest Baptista but he missed all three he took for us last season! Gilberto scored quite a few but he isn't a particularly good penalty taker.

I don't even know whether I can describe that piece of play by Vagner a couple mins ago as a chance - he was through on goal, and from there any half-decent international striker would have outpaced the one defender alongside him, or showed some tricks and cut inside the defender and made a good shot on goal, if not score. But with Vagner Love, as soon as he got the ball I knew it would not be a goal. What a tragedy that this guy is leading the line for a nation with a proud history of strikers.

Already in the few mins he's been on the pitch, Diego has impressed me the most - he is willing to track back and tackle, he is ready to accept the ball and is mobile around the attack like a no. 10, and is always trying to play a positive, direct, pass as quickly as possible.
