For Inter, i think they will miss Veron this season. I've said it a million times, but Fiore should have been brought in. I also wonder if Figo and Zanetti will be able to keep up their high level of perfomance from last season given their age. Same goes for Toldo.

For Roma, they still havnt signed a new striker which is what they need the most. I'm not sure Montella has it in him anymore given all the fitness problems he's had recently. The GK is still a ? since neither Curci or Doni have really impressed. I wonder how Totti plays - the ankle injury might still have an effect on him. Why is Panucci not playing either?

No Pannucci is purely my guess, as I think Cassetti is a much better option.

Yeah, most of us are keen to see whether replacing Veron with Vieira backfires or not... it will definately add more steel in the midfield, and with Crespo we have a natural goalscorer that we lacked last season so we should be able to convert more, but will we miss the vision of Veron?? Probably yes, thats why I am a bit pissed about selling pizzaro to Roma....

We have too many wingers, and too many defensive midfielders... Stankovic or Figo will have to step up and add that spark in the midfield...

Would ve loved to have Fiore! I wonder why Mancio did not go for him...

Super Cup duo name squads Friday 25 August, 2006

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spalletti have named their squads for Saturday’s Italian Super Cup match at San Siro between Inter and Roma.

The Super Cup is contested by the winners of the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia, with Roma earning a spot in the tie after Inter, who defeated the Giallorossi in last season’s Italian Cup, were assigned the 2005-06 League title.

The Nerazzurri are the defending champions having defeated Juventus in last season’s edition of the pre-season competition.

Mancini has plenty of options after the club’s summer spending spree and is set to field Zlatan Ibrahimovic next to Adriano, with Hernan Crespo ready to replace one of the two in the second half.

As for the defence, considering Ivan Cordoba is unavailable because of a ban, Mancini may prefer Marco Materazzi, Walter Samuel and Fabio Grosso alongside either Douglas Maicon or Javier Zanetti.

Giallorossi boss Spalletti will probably field a 4-2-3-1 with Simone Perrotta, Amantino Mancini and Rodrigo Taddei playing behind Francesco Totti.

Inter squad: Toldo, Julio Cesar, Carini; Zanetti, Grosso, Maicon, Materazzi, Samuel, Andreolli; Stankovic, Figo, Vieira, Dacourt, Cambiasso, Solari, Cesar; Ibrahimovic, Cruz, Adriano, Crespo, Recoba

Roma squad: Curci, Doni, Pipolo; Cassetti, Chivu, Cufrè, Ferrari, Mexes, Panucci; Aquilani, De Rossi, Faty, Mancini, Perrotta, Pizarro, Rosi, Taddei, Tonetto; Mido, Montella, Okaka, Totti

Sounds like a serious come back. Still losing 0-3 before half time against Roma and playing at home is pathetic if you consider the team Inter have.

Indeed they were losing 3-0 by the end of the first half(Vieira scored the first one for Inter just before the half time).
The entrance of Crespo for Adriano(who did not have a good game) was the trigger for Inter come back. Scored the second one for Inter witha nice header on his first chance, conecting a crossing from Stankovic . Third goal from Vieira(not a bad for his first offcial game with Inter de Milano), recieved the assist form Ibrahimovic after recieving a very weird backheeled pass by "Valdanito"(Crespo). The second half was almost a monologue(?) of Inter. Inter continued with the high lvl and Figo put the 4-3 with a beauitiful freekick.

Very nice I actually watched this game on the RAI since no other channel(over here) showed the game.

La Gazzeta's title. “Inter: coppa in stile Liverpool” Very Happy Very Happy
