Re: Chris Eagles
He's alright. Right winger, decent pace, good crossing, not very good at beating a man though.
Seems to end up playing the ball back alot to the full back.
He's probably as advanced as David Jones was last season before he went on loan.

But that was at home in the Green Hell ((c) Louis van Gaal), everybody knows we're utter sh$te away from home.....but I want us to build a bit of momentum, so I really want us to beat NEC.

btw Not sure if NEC recovered from their 'lesson' with PSV, should be a good game though

I remember the hupe surrounding Eagles when he was 16/17 at Man Utd. Some were even suggesting that Arsenal were interested in him.
I heard he did fairly well at Watford whilst on loan, it seems as if he has not lived up to his early potential.

People were saying he was the new Beckham.
I started to get worried after Watford dropped him for the play offs.

Was it Eagles who score a Beckham style goal last year?

Yep, I thought it was even better than Beckhams. He hit a moving ball

Still think its silly to label players with absolutely no experience like that though.

Beckhams was further out though....and the Keeper was still in the goal.

I hated the ref of the away match : we should have gotten 2 penalties in Amsterdam and got none.
Look again at the Sneijder goal if you will : it should never have stood because of off-side.
But I don't hate/blame Ajax for that, I blame the KNVB (although I do have some understanding for the situation).
After the match in Amsterdam it was obvious that the KNVB would never allow FC Groningen into the CL, afraid that they would be the joke of the tournament.
So please for once and for all stop claiming I hate Ajax.
I hate one of their players (the Garden Gnome, or Mediocre Midget as he's also known) and I think a couple of others are way overhyped....that doesn't make me hate your team believe me....
If you'd buy Cry Ronaldo, Figo, Pippo Inzaghi, Materazzi and Mattheus....*then* I'd hate Ajax, but I don't think either of us wants that

Re: Chris Eagles
Closer than Beckham's and the goalie way off his line from the earlier clearance.
Thought Carrick's (?) 'goal that never was' against you lot at OT was better than Beckham's, a moving ball and he was running across the pitch so he had to hit it at an angle to his body.

Re: Chris Eagles
Cocu has to be one of my favourite players over the last 10 years, a fantastic player that can play a number of roles on the pitch.
A great professional, I also think he will go on to coach after his player career ends.

@axeslammer
What a beauty! I particularly like the lingering shot on the goalie as he tries to think how he can look less of a plum.
It's still not the same as doing it against the mighty Wimbledon though.....

Yep, almost all Dutchies agree on that....can you imagine
I still think he needs another year to learn, develop and build up selfesteem.
We do have a Micky-Mouse league, but it's one of the best regarding education and player-growth...
