The Eagles & Millwall? Empty The Eagles & Millwall?

Post by Knoblauch Thu Mar 01, 2007 10:07 am

    What's this?
The owners of American football team Philedalphia Eagles investing £5million in Millwall with a view to getting a foot under the table in a £500million regeneration plan for the area.
Those Americans are really on the move in English football, even the little teams are in danger, they'll be moving their «franchises» all around the country.
    Good or bad thing?

    1. - They propose to invest a small amount in Milwall, so that later they can get a £500m development

    2. Regeneration = a development of a run down area

    @ johninho

I've know about this for some time - the whole area anround the New Den has been identified as an opportunity area and there have been ongoing negotiations to completely redevelop the area.

IMO its a good idea, but there is no way this company should be allowed to gain a foothold in this way

    Millwall is a football club.

They propose to invest £5m in the club so that at a future date they'll have a 'foot in the door' so that they can go ahaead with a £500m regeneration scheme

thanks ,Tweeds, but i am still confused. i will write what i catch as follows:
they invest 5m first to get a foothold or seat in Millwall. then they can invest another 500m to regeneration this area?

They invest £5m in Milwall football club - which would mean that they then have a foothold in the area - then they submit their proposal to regenerate the area.

Its difficult to describe simply I'm afraid cking Wink

Its a sneaky way of getting leverage cking.

They're making a small initial investment so that in future, they may well be more successful with a much larger investment.

Confirmed is a £5million investment from Chesnut Hill Partners, plus £2million from other «sources».
Chesnut Hill Partners are a middle men, or front for an unnamed investor.
