In 2 months time all those silly fookers who are crying over the departure of el niño, will be saying torres who?, whilst fernando will continue to struggle to come to terms with the physical nature of english football, forlan will improve even more on his villarreal form and send atleti into champs league next season.

Porto have sought to put an end to the speculation surrounding Ricardo Quaresma by announcing that he is not for sale, but have left the door open for Lucho González to leave.

Quaresma was the subject of talks between the Portuguese giants and Atlético de Madrid, but they stalled over the transfer fee demanded.

Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, but Porto's patience is at an end and they will not entertain any more bids.

"His sale is not negotiable," said Porto president, Nuno Pinto da Costa. "It is completely out of the question."

Atlético admitted that they were no longer in the running last week after hearing Porto's demands and said that they would look elsewhere to continue strengthening their squad.

Is another winger really needed Frank? You already have Maxi, Petrov & Jurado of the top of my head.

    ...JASP

I'm sure Atletico will be much better next season. They will end up qualifying for the UEFA Cup directly instead of playing the Intertoto, which in itself is a great achievement for them ok

Frank with Agueros blistering form in Canada you must be excited about watching him next season. If he stops diving and playing volleyball he could play a major role in taking you into the CL!

Haha, same!!! My eyes came out in shock, and it wouldn't be past Atleti with this summers transfer activity. Back to Frank's post...I think it could well be the case. Torres is certainly no better than Forlan...he just has age on his sid a bit more. I'm surer than last season at least that Atleti will be incredibly competitive this season.

What do you expect from Maniche Franck? He's underpeformed for you guys in a big way from what I understand.

If he could get his form back, playing akin to what he did for Portugal during the last two major tourneys, you'd have one hell of a midfield engine on your hands.

The Maniche of old is what you need, but it seems he's content with just getting the big salary and forgetting about actually turning heads with his performances.

The club website went a bit OTT didn't it?

''Numerous Atletico fans have always dreamed of having the world-admired football player, Diego Forlan, carry the colors of Club Atletico de Madrid. And with today's presentation of the newest member of Club Altetico de Madrid, the institution, crowded with over 1,000 supporters, was filled with happiness and gratification as the Uruguayan attacker proudly bared the red and white colors of Atletico.

Don Enrique Cerezo, President of the Club, welcomed Forlan recognizing the enormous contentment and satisfaction it is to present a football player with such extraordinary professional and personal qualities as Diego Forlan," recalling that "he is a man of football, son of an important player, Pablo Forlan, and grandson of Juan Carlos Corazo, Technical Director of Uruguay in 1962. Diego is, therefore, a living legacy within Uruguayan football."

The Atletico commissioner underlined his extensive league experience within Argentina, England and Spain, producing a very mature and charismatic player with a virtuous personality within the realms of football. His teammates have always admired his commitment to others, and therefore it is important to bear in mind that he was honoured as ambassador for the United Nations Infancy Foundation (UNICEF), in which his commitment and dedication to the effort have always set a positive example of the values and ideals to the Club."

Don Enrique Cerezo emphasized that Forla is an ideal model of a football player, fast and high-scoring. In addition, his goals are anything but ordinary, as his expert skilfulness result in spectacular executions. He is a motivational player, and we are honoured to have him represent Club Atletico de Madrid.E

However Forlan does seem to be a good egg and Atleti have done well getting him and the others. Looking forward to watching them next season.
