    Diego. Empty Diego.

Post by TM Thu May 24, 2007 6:46 pm

The little midget. Would he be able to cut it at a bigger club next season? He's had a teriffic season for Bremen.

At Porto he failed to make a real impact, i know there was a problem with the coach and so on. But the games he did play in he didn't really set alight.

A couple of years later, a bit more experience under his belt, is Diego capable of playing a big team, with big expectation, and would he have the ability to play in the Champions leauge?

Djimi Traoré has the ability to play in the CL so thats a bit of a throw-away comment Wink

Seriously though, I think he could most certainly cut it. Werder had a reasonably good European campaign and he was an integral part of that. He still has a lot to learn but he's made some positive strides this season

I should have said effectively or something. Djimi was pants, yes i know he has a medal, but so does Raul Bravo Very Happy

He's quite young, but as you said he has to learn alot, and quite quick IMO. He's 20-something and i think a player should begin to peak around 24-28 years of age, their in the best shape of their lives, experience under their belt etc.

He's 23 - so about to head into his prime.

One of the most available players in Europe this summer IMO - I see him going to someone like Real Madrid, Inter or Chelsea possibly

Urgh we have so many players right now for central midfield i'd doubt he'd come. Unless we're looking for an Essien-Mikel-Diego midfield.

Yeah we need an AMF, and the No.10 market is scarce. Only other real option if Sonny Anderson but he's still a kid, and can't be thrown into the deep end.

Guti has played well at times, but with him its one good game and 10 $h!t ones.

    Where's the width?

Something Chelsea really lacked this season IMO, all teams do is play 5 in midfield and it becomes congested and easy to suss Chelsea out.

The width comes from the wingers, that was just the central midfield. We've played 4 in the middle for this entire season and rarely are overun in the midfield so that comment is piss.

Yes, it's easy to suss chelsea's attack out, by chucking everyone in the middle of the park, and making it difficult for them to get through and create chances.

Yeah Euros , something like 20-25 m Euros would be accepted in my view but only if they are given time to find a replacement meaning early transfer perhaps.

Diego will stay in Bremen for at least one or two more seasons. Then we might sell him for an astronomical sum. I think Berlusconi has already begun laying aside some money so he can afford to buy him one day...Cool

Bremen won't be selling him. Teams who need a player like that in that position are better off trying for Van Der Vaart.

Then when Deco retires we will pounce for whichever of the two is available, or perhaps Anderson from Portugal.

VDV indicated in an interview recently that he would leave Hamburg if Madrid or Barcelona want him. Playing for one of the big clubs in Spain is a dream of him. He has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave HSV in 2009 for a fixed sum of 1.5m Euro.

Diego however has a contrat until 2010 and no such clause... Very Happy
