Defoe to City ?
There are a lot of rumours going around city sites and forums that Defoe is close to moving to city for £12m, has anyone heard anything ? one rumour said he was at city today having a medical but i also heard he was in South Africa with the Spuds squad.
My first choice would be Yakubu but id be very happy with Defoe.

Heard nothing - He'd be a very good buy though to partner either Bianchi or Samaras

Defoe would be a top buy and IMO would make city challenge for a top half finish at least

Be a good buy but he's very similar to Vassell.

Yeah Bianchi, Defoe, Mpenza, Samaras, Vassell and Corradi would give us lots of different quality options upfront although i expect Corradi to leave. Still im not holding my breath until its all done.

He's a better finisher and much quicker than Vasell, he's also a more intelligent player, his movement is far better as well

Slightly different -Vassell is more of a support striker - droppping deep and using the channels whereas defoe generally likes to keep central

Well Sven knows him, so I guess he knows what he's doing.
By the way are they already selling City-blue fake Sven glasses in Manchester?

Re: Defoe to City ?
No chance Defoe will go to City, no chance at-so-ever.
For those of you who don't follow football, Sven overlooked Defoe last summer when he took uncapped wonderkid Theo Whatsisnamecott to the World Cup.
If that isn't a good enough reason in itself, the fact that Charmaine currently plays for Spurs, a side with genuine top 4 aspirations. He may be 4th choice but ahead of a potential 60 game season who's to say he wont start 30 games? Joining untried City would be playing Russian roulette with his career and mean moving to Manchester

Re: Defoe to City ?
Sven had Rooney, Owen and Crouch though, he hardly has anything like that at City, he has Samaras, Bianchi and Vasell, Defoe is better than Vasell and Samaras IMO, Bianchi did well last season in Serie A, so if he can adapt then he'll be a better player than Defoe

Defoe is a far far better finisher and alround player than Vass but Vass is one of the fastest in the prem.

Its not that much of a shock if it happens. Most footballers want to be in the side and not settling for 4thchoice. We a team going places and are an attractive prospect, i wouldnt be surprised ifwe sign him.

Wow, wow, wow, sweet child of mine. I wasn't suggestion that Man City/Sven wouldn't/shouldn't try to sign Defoe. But would Defoe see it as a good move?
No, no he wouldn't.

You said that Sven overlooked him at the WC though, that implied you didn't think Sven would try and sign him for City.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.
Sven overlooked him for World Cup squad = Charmaine probably wont be keen to play for him.
IE Defoe probably thinks Sven is a c**t.

Re: Defoe to City ?
I don't. Sven made some C0ck-ups in charge of England but as McClaren has shown, he was better than anything we had to offer at the time. His club record is excellent, second only to the absolute elite echelon of managers, and he's been successful in several different countries. And don't forget, he was England manager for five years - he knows the Premiership very well.
