    City wait on Juve duo

Skysports.com understands Manchester City are waiting to find out if Juventus are willing to sell duo Giorgio Chiellini and Manuele Blasi.

City are believed to be chasing the Italian duo as Sven Goran Eriksson looks to reshape his squad at Eastlands.

Italian Under 21 international Chiellini is believed to be considering his future at Juventus as he is concerned about his first-team chances with the Bianconeri.

Blasi's position at Juventus also remains uncertain with the midfielder having returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina last season.

Eriksson is keen to bring in some new faces before the start of the new season and he sees the duo as key additions to his squad.

The agent of both players, Davide Lippi, has revealed City are interested in the pair and that he is meeting with Juventus to find out what their plans are for the duo.

"I am planning to meet Juventus on Tuesday to discuss the futures of Giorgio and Manuele," Lippi told skysports.com.

"Manchester City are interested in both players and I am going to meet Juventus to see if these moves are possible.

"Both players would be happy to play in the Premier League and Manchester City, but it all depends on Juventus.

"They both like English football and the fact Eriksson is there would be a big factor for them to go there.

"However it depends on the price and whether Juventus want to sell them or not."

Its not that incredible - certainly not with Blasi who is a fairly ordinary player

    Chiellini though!

that would be an impressive coup - and don't forget Sven has a glowing reputation in Italy so players like these would most likely be eager to join up with him - especially at a club like Citeh that (in my opinion at least) has bags of potential

Isn't Erikson relying on his Italian links a bit too much when in general they dont deliver the goods in the Prem?

Not really, i think he just knows the market very well and knows that its cheaper than buying in england. He has stated he does want to bring in young english players but maybe at the moment he is finding the best deals abroad.

I just want the best players at the best prices for the club no matter where they are from, plus Italian's havnt been that $h!t in the Prem, Zola, Vialli, Di Matteo, Ravanelli etc all did well so i dont see why the ones we bring should be any different.

The Italian league produces players who suit the Premiership. Technically better than the indigenous British, physically capable of the job at hand.

Man City have plenty of British players via their academy, Sven is looking to bring in the best imports he can get to compliment that. His stature in Italy, I'm told, is higher than over here in the UK, so players from there will want to play for him.

So far he seems to know what he's doing. Wait for the season to start and then we can see for sure.
