to try and change tact and get away from the liverpool v man utd arguments

I watched this on Football First last night and I really didn´t know what to make of either team.
Blackburn were clearly the better team for an hour but only really caused huge problems in the first 20 minutes. Moyes changed Beattie for Mcfadden, and with Cahill coming on Everton dominated the last half hour and had the most blatant penalty you´ll ever see trned down, but cahill did get the qualiser.

anybody else see it and what did you think, really not sure about either

Johnson should have had a penalty.

.. i don't know when the level of refereeing in the Premiership went down, so many controversies and 2 games gone..

Everton might have a decent season IMO.

Johnson and Beattie are both capable of getting 10+ goals a season + they have Cahill and Arteta who are both good scorers.

They also have Osman, Mcfadden, neville etc...

And they have a reasonably decent defence now.

If they stay clear of injureies they may do quite well this season

    Shocking and scandalous.

What was the referee watching?! - should have been a straight red, like what Redknapp said, hope the FA act.

    ---------------------

Harry Redknapp said: "The FA have to do something, it is there for all to see.

"I do not want to see anyone suspended but how could that possibly not be a red card?

"What do you have to do to get a red, kill someone?"

I personally dont think the police should get involved, a heavy, heavy fine and a long ban is about right.

but its a clear attack, the police would be involved if you do that to someone in the street.

Thats true, but people dont go chasing a ball around on the street, certainly not were I live anyway.

Although there is no place for it in football, it was still on a football pitch, which has to give some kind of boundaries.

Its an issue for the FA, there should be no outside influences in my opinion.

but he wasnt chasing the ball was he?

He was after the man, and that was it.

If I just walked up to someone and smashed my arm in their face, id be taken to court for it.

The ball was there, it wasnt really off the ball.

Im not defending it, because it was a blatant smash into an opposing players and I do think that the FA should throw the book at him, but bringing the police to look into what happens on a football pitch is inappropriate in my opinion.

It leaves it open for them to do other players for other things.

It was a football pitch not a boxing ring. The fact that he got seizure as a result (far worse and life threatening than a broken leg), puts the definite lid on this as a malicious assault.
And he never intended to play the ball.
We see elbows almost weekly, but none have the impact as this mailcious foul.

By the law harmfull assaults are punishable even if you didn't "intend" it to be that.
    Its called consequences & responibilities.

Nah they capable of more then that havent they both scored more then 15 i think Beattie scored nearer 20 with saints. Especially as a partnership they will score a lot with Johnsan getting most of the goals. I've always rated Beattie though

Beattie is rarely much better than ordinary, just usually has about 10 games a season.

Then people claim he should play for england Rolling Eyes

I've always rated him really especially for a target man, he's a more viable option as a starter then Crouch although he has done well

he clearly isnt though. More often than not, he's terrible.

Crouch is just a far far better player. He might be better in the air, but Crouch is better at everything else.

Finishing with Beattie is just too inconsistant.

and as the stat says, Crouch has scored 23 goals in 40 games since December.

i don't know why i just like Beattie maybe it's just because i saw him play a few times a S'ton

When he's on form he's unstopable like V Chelsea last year and a few games aroung then, i don't know how old he is now 24?

He does seem a bit up himself to be honest, but as said before, lots of footballers are arrogant.

He just isnt good enough to match his arrogance.

blackburn were the better team but todd did get away with that incident... how the ref did not give a penalty defies belief... how do these people get their jobs?????

blackburn may not be as successful as last season but they have a decent enough set up so may sirprise again...

everton i fancied for a top 7 finish this season... they are compact and hard working which makes them very hard to beat... johnson should give them a bit of edge as well.... if we don't get momo back for the derby i will worry about that game... we may get outfought
