He is brazilian with part italian ancestry. Its a technicality, he actually should play for Brazil, like Camoranesi for Argentina... but I guess the Oriundi have always been a major part of Italian football.

It's surprising that Brazil haven't picked him. They could do with some new strikers.

He would add quality and depth to the Azzurri.

Not really. He would just be another good striker. Italy is overflowing with those at the moment. In fact it's defenders we need.

Agree with Forza. While Amauri is good, I think Brazil need him much more than Italy do at the mo. Italy have too many quality strikers and surprisingly low on CB reserves. While Brazil are shockingly playing with the likes of Vagner Love and Alves upfront! IMO Amauri is better than both, but is he better than Toni & co? Nah.

Who said that we have too many defenders??

Talk about luck, we are without Materazzi, Chivu, Burdisso, Cordoba, Maicon, and most likley Samuel!!! affraid

Unheralded Rivas will debut against Fenerbache, and we don't even have a partner for him!!! I hope Samuel recovers to start....

    Chivu injury sparks crisis
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cristian Chivu is set for a spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, leaving Inter with a defensive crisis ahead of their Champions League opener. The Nerazzurri start their all-important European campaign with a daunting trip to the Sukuru Saracoglu Stadium to face Turkish champions Fenerbahce next Wednesday. Roberto Mancini cannot call upon Nicolas Burdisso, Douglas Maicon or Ivan Cordoba as the trio received bans for their part in a brawi against Valencia in last season’s last 16 exit.

Argentine stopper Walter Samuel is also likely to be unavailable due to a muscular problem, but he may try to hurry his recovery in order to take a seat on the bench. Now, the ex-Fiorentina boss looks unlikely to be able to call upon star man Chivu after he sustained a shoulder injury in Romania’s friendly against Germany on Wednesday night. It is not yet known whether Chivu’s humerus is fractured or just badly bruised, but Mancio will almost certainly have just one central defender for the trip to Turkey in Colombian Nelson Rivas.

Today Gazzetta released the average ages for all the teams in Serie A. Milan and Inter each have an average age of 30 or so. They have the oldest squads in Serie A.

Udinese has the youngest with the average age at 25.

Milan was a bit unlucky but in the end the result was right. We always have problems with Seina, can't imagine why but it happens.

My point still remains though. Italian teams tend to value experience and age a lot more than EPL teams do

It's because the old players are slow and can't cope with the pace of the Premier league.

PS we had the age discussion in the new domination thread, Seri A followers prefer older experienced players as their game is slower and less physical.
